Re: underlining not being distinctive enough and adding bolding. I assume BDD has Help:Preferences#Advanced options set to underline all Wikilinks, or to use the Skin or Browser default (which is defaulted to underlining on their Skin or Browser). Just an FYI. I just wanted to bring to your attention this RFD as well as this one. It's generally considered bad practice to close discussions before anyone had the chance to participate, and for the second one there are more important issues at play. Per WP:NACINV, you should generally always avoid closing discussions of which you were a participant. Even for the noncontroversial stuff, it's considered proper to just let an uninvolved editor have at it.

Well, I can unclose either if you want to add to the discussion. That's been done recently on the RfD page. I did so following similar examples such as #Ghost people and #Biobag. I closed the first because after three and a half days, no one else had commented on a pretty straightforward DAB; I am not familiar with the original editor's experience with Wikipedia, but they would seem to have not realized disambiguating was an action they could take themselves without going to RfD (and the editor thanked me for closing the discussion). I closed the second one because the original poster completely changed their mind, and because shaheed, like saint, is an obvious redirect. I am sorry I have caused offense by closing those two, and again I'm happy to reopen them if you want to discuss them more; but I stand by having closed them. No dude you're fine, but like generally that stuff had qualified for Wikipedia:Speedy keep because both of those the closer in question was the nominator. It worked out in this case, so it's whatever I guess. I am not offended whatsoever, and I don't think they should be reopened. It's not the delete/discuss that's the issue, it's the volume of research you are asking other editors to do - you should also be doing a full review of each of the redirects you nominate before you nominate them (and ideally summarise your findings with the nomination), the speed and volume you're nominating them at suggests you aren't. Yes there will be some redirects that have obvious answers others spot you didn't - we don't expect perfection - but these should be a minority. Thryduulf (talk) 20:07, 19 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi MiQ,

Way back in the mists of time (2009), when Wikisource was new and exciting, you started work on s:Huon of Burdeux. Subsequent to that work however, times and policy changed, and the work you did now falls afoul of the policy on "annotated" texts (basically all editorial changes to a text are forbidden, unless an entirely unmodified original exists). As a consequence, the text has been proposed for deletion, as both an annotated work and as an incomplete extract.

However, as I mentioned in that discussion, I think the work you did there was great, and I would love to see it saved. Is this text something you would be interested in working on? The existing text needs to have an unmodified original text available, and the whole work needs to be completed (unmodified first, annotated optionally afterwards). So not a small project, but, if you're interested, a worthwhile one. It can also be tackled bit by bit: the Wikisource community is generally reluctant to delete works if there is any appreciable progress on them at all.

PS. I'd been thinking about contacting you for a while, but didn't want to be too pushy about this. But then your recent edits to Charles Dickens happened by my watchlist just as I was discussing a Dickens related issue over on Wikisource, so I chose to consider it serendipity and give you a poke afterall. Agreed, the hyphen is non-standard. I didn't think a verbal explanation was warranted on this niggly point, although I am sure some Greek scholars (which I am not) would consider it vital ;-) ...On further research, I think my Greek teacher may have been wrong about the pronunciation; the WP article on Ancient Greek pronunciation says: "The geminate [prolonged] versions of the aspirated stops /pʰː tʰː kʰː/ are written with the digraphs ⟨πφ τθ κχ⟩.... Hello, in Wikipedia talk:Service awards/Archive 2#Renovation proposal, what does the title "Looshpah" look like to you? Can you tell me a little more about how this name came about and what do you see as "impressive" ("... Looshpah ... are made-up words that are intended to sound impressive") in it? I have translated this page into another language, but this title, made by transcription into this language, looks weak/loose (compared to other titles nearby that have strong parts with t,r,d in them) and has connotations with scold words. Because of this, it looks less desirable to participants and less frequently used templates with the same names. I would like to make this name stronger and cooler in translation, but since this is not a real word and has no meanings, it is difficult for me to understand what "impressive" meaning/image is in it. Did I come up with it? It's so long ago, I don't remember. It's clearly supposed to sound humorous, like an over-grandiose title that goes too far and comes out silly (the way an over-grandiose person might try so hard to seem elegant that he or she seems silly). It sounds a bit like "poobah" or "pasha" or "moonshee"; and it looks like there might be a little bit of "Oompa-Loompa" thrown in for good measure. I'll add that in English, all of the names (Tutnum, Grognard, etc.) sound silly, as is intended. The primary names like "Master Editor", "Veteran Editor" are supposed to be the serious versions, "Looshpah", "Tutnum" humorous alternatives for those who don't want to take themselves so seriously. I also thought at first that Tutnum is closer to /tuːtnuːm/ because of Tutankhamun / ˌtuːtənkɑːˈmuːn / as an association with reaching the level of a big and main ruler, but maybe it should sound more mocking? I don't think the names are meant to sound mocking, but they are meant to bring a smile to the face. They are not mean-spirited, but light-hearted, meant to suggest, "I don't take myself too seriously." As for how you would translate/transliterate them, that is up to you, since you get to shape how you want them to be perceived in the language you are translating them into. Hello! I just started Shakespeare coat of arms, and managed to stumble on your Shakespeare knot (2008). I even found your source online, [2], but this edition doesn't seem to mention the Shakespeare knot. Do you know any available WP:RS that does? It was in the 1884 edition (see the image in the article). I no longer remember any of the details (more than a decade since), but I did just now find reference to it in Google Books' snippet view of the 1884 edition [4]: "On the signet ring preserved in the birthplace at Stratford-on-Avon is engraved a true lover's knot entwining the letters W. S., and this is said to have belonged to Shakespeare (Fig. 11)." If you search "Shakespeare knot" in quotes, the phrase seems to appear on p. 12, but because of snippet view I don't have any more context.

I also found this in Shakespearean Relics (1883), p. 6 [5]: "There is in the Museum at Stratford the massive gold signet ring, with the letters W S entwined with a tasseled true lover's knot, which was found some thirty or more years ago, and which Mr. Halliwell-Phillips thinks there is little doubt belonged to the poet, and was probably lost but shortly before his death—that is, during the interim between the drafting of his will and the execution of it, for in the last clause the word 'hand' is substituted for the word 'seal' previously written."

I also found in Shakespeare and Sexuality (2001), p. 23 [7]: "The true-lover's knot is the iconographic image of the elaborately encoiled and overlapping thread, with no beginning or end. […] Examples may be seen as well in portraits of the time – such as that of Sir Henry Lee (1568) in the National Portrait Gallery." This image can be seen here, with the knot in question on Lee's right shoulder. It is similar to the "Shakespeare knot".

And in Shakespeare: For All Time (2003), p. 268 [8]: "In March 1818 Haydon wrote breathlessly to Keats 'I shall certainly go mad! In a field at Stratford upon Avon, in a field that belonged to Shakespeare; they have found a gold ring and seal, with the initial thus – W. S. and a true lover's knot between. If this is not Shakespeare who is it? – a true lover's knot!! – … As sure as you breathe, & that he was the first of beings the Seal belonged to him – O Lord! –'." Thanks for your work on the Audie Award lists, however they include multiple links to disambiguation pages which are not useful to the reader. You can identify these by going to your "preferences" -> Gadgets & tick next to "Display links to disambiguation pages in orange" which will then highlight them for you. I came here to say the same. I just fixed those on Audie Award for Best Male Narrator, but Category:Pages with excessive dablinks from January 2022 shows there are about 16 more such pages with a large number of links to be fixed. Common name of U. erectus

Hello, in 2007 you've created the Umbilicus erectus article, in which you've placed "Reniform Venus' navel" as the English common name for it. I've tried searching for sources to back it up, but I'm unable to find any non-circular references on it, and it appears to be a translation of its Italian vernacular name "Ombelico di Venere reniforme". Neither reference or taxon identifier in the article shows it having any English vernacular name. Would you happen to remember what source you have used for creating this article?
