Speedy deletion nomination of Pythia (Band) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pythia (Band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Do I need to provide sources of where I got the information or something? --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 01:52, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you do, if you want the article not to be deleted, and these sources should be reliable and independent. You should consult WP:RS and WP:BAND for more information. Jinkinson talk to me 02:00, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have added a source under the External Links section of the article --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 02:02, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
That helps, but I'm not sure if Encyclopedia Metallum is a reliable source since it takes user submissions (like a wiki). You should add more if you want to establish notability, and thereby keep the article from being deleted. Jinkinson talk to me 02:13, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm also adding an interview source right now which is an interview with members of the band, would that be good enough? --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 02:15, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think it's enough to avoid speedy deletion, so I have removed the tag. You should keep adding independent sources if you want the article not to get deleted, though. Jinkinson talk to me 02:22, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Okay thanks for all the help! --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 02:24, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi - I've been working on the previous version of the Pythia (band) page (if you look at your page under Talk it detected the page which was being worked on last week). It's available here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Willzuk/Pythia_%28band%29 - can you see this? I'm currently waiting for the page to bew reviewed to see if it can be undeleted. It has lots of references to Pythia in the press which I think will suffice to save it from deletion again. Is there any way the pages can be merged if that would make sense? Willzuk (talk) 11:17, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I don't know. That's something you'll have to speak to an admin about I guess. I'm new here. --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 11:25, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ok - I think that lots of referrences to the likes of Metal Hammer and Terrorizer will help (I had a few towards the top), I think the notability guidelines are quite strict to prevent pages from being deleted. I could ask the chap who removed the original page to see what they say - I like the band history chart and intro in your page though so it would be good if a merge was possible! Willzuk (talk) 11:30, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've sent the question - what might be as easy is if I updated your page with some of my sections and references later as I think they should be copy and pastable from the source. Will see what they say! Be good to have Pythia back on Wikipedia :) Willzuk (talk) 11:42, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Instead I have just started to work a little bit of the content into your new Pythia page as I think it's well written and laid out as you have created it. There are quite a few references from when Pythia have been in the mainstream press I could add, but I think just adding them could become a distraction from the content itself? Willzuk (talk) 17:10, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

No it's fine I like what you've done. Good job! It's great to see that together we've managed to bring an article out from the depths of purgatory and turn it into something great. It's good seeing these guys are finally on Wikipedia, they're certainly well-known enough to warrant their own article.--TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 18:01, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Also, I see you've added a link to a wiki article for one of their albums, however the article doesn't exist yet. We should start making pages for each album of theirs as well. --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 18:10, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sounds like a good plan :) It is great to see them back on wikipedia, as they have had so much press including interviews and reviews in the major music magazines I was sure they were notable enough and the page you have created has a very clean layout! If we need sources to cite I came across this photobucket of clippings, although many are too small to read and you can't get the page/issue number, but with research they could be found (I have some of the references!). I'm sure there will be a lot more press with the new album too! Willzuk (talk) 20:15, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have began typing out an article for Beneath the Veiled Embrace here. I'll get to work on The Serpent's Curse and Shadows of a Broken Past too whenever I get time. --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 20:59, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Excellent - it's looking really good from an album page, I have added an extra few small pieces to it to improve the number of references. I heard back from the admin who removed the initial page earlier and he said he will review the new main Pythia page and possibly include the history of contributors (i.e. everyone who previously contributed) as a history from their being a page. i think your new page does have a much neater layout compared with the previous one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Willzuk (talkcontribs) 17:31, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Not sure if you are a member of the Pythian Army on facebook but your work to bring Pythia back to Wikipedia has been noticed :) Willzuk (talk) 21:07, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately I do not use Facebook (I quit FB sometime around last year) but it's great to see that people are getting interested in building the article up! --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 13:41, 25 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Timeline color discussion edit

Hey there, I know you feel strongly that the timeline coloring standard that has been on Wikipedia for years remains, and the user that is trying to change it all has started a discussion here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians#RfC: Consensus on band timeline colour schemes. I invite you to please come weigh in and help me save Wikipedia's timelines, lol THANK YOU! DLManiac (talk) 21:38, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hey there sorry for the late reply, it's been a while since I've logged in. Anyway, thanks for helping out with the timeline. It's good to see that I'm not the only one who wants to uphold the timeline standard seen on most other band articles. --TheUndyingAnchor (talk) 15:09, 27 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
