Hello The-Traveller-in-Tacoma!

There is an introductory box about replying using "Template:Talkback" at the user_talk page of =Deville= User:Deville. Its goal is to simply the process of responding, by informing the individual which (i.e. whose) talk page to utilize. I feel like I understand the use, but I'm still learning; so I'm not posting the function to this page just yet. Don't hesitate to add a section with your opinion of this template.

File copyright problem with File:IDEA-3.png edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:IDEA-3.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. [midnight comet] [talk] 12:08, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 10:09, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

WHERE ARE THE SECTIONS? edit

Should'n't there be more sections in the category, for "AllTheWeb"?

"AlltheWeb" post on my talk page edit

Please do not post random messages on my talk page. I don't use AlltheWeb, I use Google. Just see my userbox page to find out. –CG 15:29, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
>>"ComputerGuy": If you had more than ten userboxes, it would have been easy for me to miss because they all join together...and I also use Opera with "Cached Images". What's your opinion of AllTheWeb, and what's your opinion of the Category-page? You weren't "random": your're in Washington state.

  • If you had created a userbox about editors being in Washington state, that would be appropriate. However, the association between "Washington state editors" and AllTheWeb is random. In the future, I recommend you use the sandbox, or create a userlist with yourself as the only member and test the notification on yourself. --Alan Au (talk) 18:26, 18 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please stop contacting hundreds of talk pages. edit

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. -- Deville (Talk) 16:24, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
>> "Deville": I'm not really promoting AllTheWeb itself as I am the process of learning how to create a Category page, with a Userbox, with a group-add script, and a review-request. One thing I've noticed is that, somehow, my Signature is showing up...but not in the standard display. Since the category page, by my initial design, includes my membership (and contact name & link), this compensates for the confusion people may have by the abbreviated "TTiT" tag with no hyperlink stuff...and indirect way of coming to a talk page, you could say.

User problems edit

Hi The-Traveller-in-Tacoma; May I ask why you added an information phone number to a disused userpage?[1] Why did you upload a file that already exists on Commons under a different name and license it differently?[2] That isn't necessary. Please don't spam userbox notifications.[3] Please use edit summaries.[4] If you terminate your messages on talk pages with four tildes, ~~~~, the wiki software will add your name and timestamp automatically. I hope this helps. Walter Siegmund (talk) 16:47, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

>>:"Wsiegmund": ITEMS-- (1) First off, it was 3 in the morning. Secondly, I think it was something about the extra wide appearance, and it enticed me to play with it. Lots of people have a column of userboxes on the right edge; then there's those that think it looks better on the left; and some people got-it-together and spent the time centering things up and using a table. And getting a different width looked hard to do. (2) I wanted to have the image be a local reference, and I couldn't get it to save any other way but the Commons. And the name I use now matters because of the context where I'm using it. I thought it's the same license; it took me forever to find the way to 'tag' it...and yet it's so simple. (3) I wanted to contact the people that live in Washington state, but in the "TOOLBOX" grid on the left, it wasn't consistently listed; so followed the policy of posting a section on a talk-page. (4) I DID use four tildes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The-Traveller-in-Tacoma (talkcontribs) 03:33, 2009 August 15

>>Editors are encouraged to contribute content and copy correction to Wikipedia. Creating userboxes is considered a distracting and largely pointless activity by many. Please use WP:SANDBOX to carry out experiments. Category:Wikipedians_in_Washington lists those editors categorized in that manner, but please do not spam us. Your edit works fine with File:Crystal_Clear_app_ktip.png.[5] I'm tagging your local upload of that file for removal.[6] Walter Siegmund (talk) 18:26, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

>> "'Akcarver": You've got 75 items on your talk page, so I thought you'd be able to comment on the process of evauating a Category page-creation. I'm not advertisng the search engine so much as using it as a model to understand, with a simple independent userbox layout and inclusion script. It's just fun!

NowCommons: File:IDEA-3.png edit

File:IDEA-3.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Crystal Clear app ktip.png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Crystal Clear app ktip.png]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 18:39, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

status edit

Yes it's better; I reformatted it for you to match our style and coding conventions, and to clarify the sequence of events. It still needs at the very least the insertion of the pro and con arguments. There are 3 ways to go from here, but , I do not think it can possibly be notable under any of them.. If this is an article about an organization, it would be about Citizens for a Better Ballot, and we almost never keep articles for local groups such as this. If it is about the political campaign, ditto; I can think of no analogous article in Wikipedia . The best chance is to make it about the amendment, but even this is difficult for the government of a single county: there are only 2 analogous articles in Wikipedia San Francisco Proposition H (2005), and Nashville Referendum Election on Proposed Charter Amendments (January 2009). Both of these were internationally watched referendums with extremely controversial issues, not just changing the elections procedure. Feel free to insert it however you like. I will not speedy it again, but I almost certainly will send to to WP:AFD for a community decision. DGG ( talk ) 18:19, 18 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

WP:N edit

Hi TTiT; Please see WP:N for article criteria. Also, you might look at WP:AFD for the article deletion process. Often, it is easier for a new editor to gain some experience by improving existing articles rather than in starting new ones. There is a lot to learn. Proposed deletion of Tacoma mayoral election, 2009 edit

The article Tacoma mayoral election, 2009 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable city mayoral election.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Admrboltz (talk) 00:37, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Podcasting edit

Hey, I was just looking over the list of members on the Podcasting group and wanted to see if you were still active in the project. If so, it looks like the project could use a little jump-start. In particular, I think notability requirements and assessment guidelines could be added/updated. Please check out the page if you're still interested and move your name to the 2011 active list. Thanks! Udeezy (talk) 23:15, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

2009 Washington State local elections moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, 2009 Washington State local elections, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
