Request reason:

Please unblock my IP address. I have been trying relentlessly to add an article. I have been told that it appears to be advertising. I tried last night to clean out everything that seems like an advertisement and now my user is deleted and my IP blocked??? TerriAnneBaker (talk) 12:12, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

"I am a fan" - this is likely to be bollocks. This account was registered two days after Problem Child Soca, who uploaded a PR picture of the subject on Commons and posted spam that is substantially similar to the previous account (compare Special:Undelete/User:TerriAnneBaker first revision to Special:Undelete/User:Problem Child Soca/sandbox last revision). If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Why have you been "relentlessly" trying to add this article? What is your connection to the subject? Your user page is not article space or place to draft an article. 331dot (talk) 12:18, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

TerriAnneBaker and Problem Child Soca edit

I honestly have NO idea what I am doing. I have read every article that Wikipedia has suggested to read to help me write this.

Problem Child is a Soca Music Artist. I would like to write an article about him as there isn't one. I have tried using the article on Machel Montano and obviously it is not helping me. To be very honest, I find this process very confusing.

I didn't mean to delete whatever comments you wrote. I actually have no idea what I did to delete them to be honest. I just want to add an article. I have taken out everything that seems to be bias but still it gets deleted.

maybe I am dumb but I need SPECIFIC examples of where I am going wrong because I just don't know.

Please HELP ME instead if deleting everything I do.

How did you come to write about this person? You just told about the person and what they do. Wikipedia articles must do more, they must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a subject, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of notability, in this case, the definition of a notable musician. 331dot (talk) 13:15, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

When looking at the article for Skinny Fabulous (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinny_Fabulous) I'm not seeing a big difference between what he has published and what I am trying to publish. Are you sugesting I need to remove the links to the youtube songs? It's the only real difference I see:

You are using as a reference an article that is itself problematic; this is why the existence of other similar articles does not justify allowing yours, please see other stuff exists. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate articles to go undetected, even for years. Please review the links I put in my last post. Please also answer my question. 331dot (talk) 13:47, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
For ease of reading, I have removed the article you copied here, as you linked to it. 331dot (talk) 13:49, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

If I'm understanding correctly, if I remove the links to other artists and the songs on Youtube than the article will meet requirements?

As mentioned, Problem Child does not have an article. As I am a fan, don't I have a place here to write it?

I don't think you are just a random fan, much as MER-C notes above. And no, removing the links will not confer notability on this person. They must be shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources to meet Wikipedia's special definition of a a notable musician. Any article should only summarize what such sources say. 331dot (talk) 16:41, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

So, I'm not allowed to publish an article for someone that is not myself? This artist is my best friend's sister's artist. She asked me to create this article on her behalf because Wikipedia says the content can't be biased. If none of us are allowed to create an article about this artist than who is? And since we are not Shertz James (aka Problem Child Soca), this is not an auto-biography.

What needs to be removed in order for Problem Child to have an article?

For an article to exist, an author would need to show through reliable sources that Problem Child is a notable musician. The drafts that were made did not do that. They were filled with YouTube links, hence why they were removed as spam and advertising and why this account has been blocked and remains blocked. Please show us, with reliable sources how the subject meets our notability for musicians guidelines. only (talk) 11:28, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I would love to do that but my IP remains blocked. How can I proceed with a blocked address? Do I need to create in the sandbox and use the "submit" command until the Wikipedia volunteers are happy?

You can show us right here on this talk page. this is the only page you have access to while the block remains in place. only (talk) 11:37, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cool. So I can continue to recreate the article in this talk page here with you and you will help me get it ready for posting?

No, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that if you believe that Problem Child is worthy of an article, you need to show us the reliable sources that show he's notable.
FOr this account to be unblocked, you need to show us that you understand how reliable sources work and what is notable and not. If unblocked, what edits will you make that are NOT associated with Problem Child? only (talk) 12:17, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

What is a reliable source for showing/proving the songs that Problem Child has written? Also, if I can't user YouTube to showcase the album releases, what reliable source can I use?

I can't really answer that as I don't know what sources have covered the artist. YouTube isn't a reliable source, though. You should look through pages like WP:RS to find out more about reliable sources. only (talk) 12:17, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
The issue is not reliable sources for the songs this person has written. The issue is reliable sources showing how this person meets the Wikipedia definition of a notable musician. Which of the listed criteria do you assert that this person meets? 331dot (talk) 12:39, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Wikipedia page suggests that in order to be a notable musician that there needs to be proof he has won something or whatever. I have given the link to the OFFICIAL St Vincent Mas page where it shows he won in 2007 and 2009. In order to even qualify for this competition, you must be a musician.

He has also release 2 international albums which I also tried to include but I understand that youtube is not a credible source.

Please forgive me if this comes off as rude, but, may I request that this article be reviewed by someone with a West Indian decent? They may better understand the content I am trying to write about.

Not a draft article so review not required, subject does not pass WP:NMUSICIAN, which states "Has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award." Theroadislong (talk) 13:50, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
While some users identify what nationality or race they are, there is no way to be certain of those things. It is also not required that editors have a personal familiarity with the subject in order to edit or review an article(and in some cases it's helpful to have outside eyes).
Is the competition you describe a "major music competition"? That's the criteria. Even if this person won it, they still must have significant coverage in independent reliable sources which have a reputation of fact checking and editorial control to merit an article. 331dot (talk) 14:37, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes. And according to Wikipedia, you seem to agree - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival_Road_March

I appreciate that not everyone understands the West Indian culture. But as a moderator, I feel it's important that you are educated on "Carnival". That said, Road March is pretty much the biggest award you can win in the West Indian culture.

PC qualifies for the following: 4. Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country.[note 4] -----> PC performs (and has been performing for YEARS) at pretty much EVERY carnival in the Caribbean. These concerts are advertised via promotional flyers, which are not credible sources. What can be used to showcase concerts hes performed? 8. Has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award. St Vincent Road March 2 times which is written and linked to the official St. Vincent Mas website (http://www.carnivalsvg.com/2018/07/11/road-march-1971-2015/). He also made it to the Soca Monarch finals in Trinidad in 2020. Another major milestone in the West Indian culture. 9. Has won first, second or third place in a major music competition. -----> As noted in my previous example, he has won FIRST PLACE 2 times for St Vincent Road March (http://www.carnivalsvg.com/2018/07/11/road-march-1971-2015/) 12. Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or television network.

-----> PC was featured on Soaked in Soca (https://www.soakedinsoca.com/post/problemchild) in July 2020. Which is also included in my article.

As requested, can you refer me to someone who better understands the West Indian culture so that they an guide me to what Wikipedia considers credible sources for Soca Music.

It's up to you to make a persuasive case regardless of who is evaluating your work. If evaluating your claims is dependent on the nationality of the reviewer, that would call into question the strength of your claims with regards to a global encyclopedia. In any event, you need to make an unblock request first before anything more can be done. 331dot (talk) 20:22, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would also suspect that the number of West Indian editors relative to editors as a whole is low. You might be waiting a long time for one. 331dot (talk) 20:25, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean. The only account that should now be associated with me is this one. I created 2 previous accounts and request that BOTH be deleted so I can work off this account.

Please provide next steps for resolving the issue you mentioned "Checkuser verified abuse of multiple accounts, and block evasion.

You won't be getting unblocked unless you address this issue."

What are the "2 previous accounts" that you had? only (talk) 14:01, 24 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

The accounts I requested to have deleted are: 1. Problem Child Soca - I requested this to be deleted because while I am not the artist "Problem Child" I was advised that I cannot have an account name as the name of the person I am writing about. 2. Kymirah Media - I requested this to be deleted because wikipedia says I can't use the artists management company.

So I created a new account, using my own name, removed everything in the article that seems to favour the artist. Linked his awards to the official announcement and removed all links to YouTube which I would like to now have reviewed.

October 3, 2020 Still waiting for help on this. I have requested that the other accounts be closed but was refused this request by wikipedia. So now I'm stuck, I can't get this account unlocked because of the duplication of other accounts and I can't get the other accounts deleted so how do I get out of this loop and get my account unlocked so that I can finally add an article. Can you please give me the steps I need to take to get out of this loop?

Accounts cannot be deleted, for both technical and legal reasons. The only thing you can do is abandon your other accounts and never use them again. You are free to make another unblock request on this account, but you will need to explain why you were not entirely forthcoming about your relationship with PC(initially claiming that you were just a random fan), and tell us what you will edit about, as it's unlikely you will be unblocked to continue to edit about PC at least in the short term. 331dot (talk) 13:35, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
