Reverting vandalism

Hello and thanks for reverting that vandalism on Empire state building. I've warned the offending IP on his/her talk page. Please feel free to warn users who blatantly vandalise wikipedia when you catch them in future. At the end of the day, its the only way they'll learn. Thanks and have a nice day! Jordan Busson

When the original author of an article, espeically with issues such as notability, blanks their article page, it is common practice to then mark the page with the {{db-author}} tag, so that it can go away quietly. I reverted your reversion to the author's blanking, then added the {{db-author}} tag, so that it, again, can go away quietly. RE: Flat Creek Baptist Church (Oakwood, Georgia)

I see your position, and understand your reasons. I'm really not a bad user, and I literally spent alomost all of Labor Day Constructing that article. It's just kind of depressing that that old building had no significance in the eyes of the world. It sure ment a lot for me. I read the notability guidelines, yes, and I can guarentee the existence of both that book and the newspaper article. If you would like, I can scan the church's constitution (assuming that most churches don't have one) and the article in question if it can save that article. It's 6:40 AM here on the Eastern Seaboard, and I may be able to obtain that article by sundown on September 3rd (Eastern Standard Time). I'll scan it, quote it, whatever it takes, I just want one of my contributions to survive more than seven days... just once.

My apologies for annoying you. I really am not a vandal, but I never have been that good of a contributer as far as content, since I always have been terrible at citing my content. I guess I'll just stick to existing articles. I do believe, though that my contributions in that article fell upon the "Be Bold" policy, and I did my research alright, most definitely.

Is there a way to retrieve the page I created regarding DiscipleLife. It was not meant as any form of advertising but to educate people on what the term means and how it has been used in the Northern-Texas Northern Louisiana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. You'll have to contact one of the admins (preferably the one that deleted the article) and ask them to restore the article in your userspace so you can work on it. Unblock requests

Hi! I noticed you referred two blocked IP addresses to WP:ACC. What most people don't realise is that we don't handle unblock requests, and hence our system will automatically reject requests from IP addresses which have account creation blocked on Wikipedia. Because a bad good faith edit is still a bad edit. You may mean well, but if the addition does not add anything, or is advertising, then it's not a good edit. Labeling it a good faith edit is just my way of saying that it probably isn't appropriate, but that you didn't mean anything bad by adding it. Templarion (talk) 06:52, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Passwords

I see you have created a second account to protect against possible compromise. Nothing wrong with that, but just thought I would let you know that there are better ways of doing this. First of all, a lost/forgotten password can be dealt with through e-mail, see Wikipedia:FAQ/Technical#How do I recover a password I have forgotten?. You will need to have enabled e-mail on your account beforehand. Secondly, you can protect your account by pasting a hash code on your user page. If your account is ever compromised you can use this to prove to an administrator that it is your account as only you will have the key to the code. Hash codes are much harder to break than passwords. Here is a link to an online hash calculator. SpinningSpark 13:19, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your suggestion on the account security. I didn't think about a hash, so I'll probably do that soon. Also, regarding your statement on the talk page for the Amistad book, I posted to the talk page for just that reason, I just didn't find anything (I didn't know about the Google Scholar function, so I'll try using that more often). Please would you desist from deleting my entries to the Oxted School entry? I have agreed with your appraisal of "The Pirate Game". However, I have the luxury of being a member of staff at the school and I would be grateful if you would respect that. Normally you want to put new subjects at the bottom of a talk page, so that they are easier to find. As for your concern, I have only removed it once. It seems that multiple people have issues with your addition. Please note, however, that WP:V, WP:NOTE and WP:RS don't just apply to having an article that focuses on that subject. The game should not be on the page for Oxted School for the same reasons that it shouldn't have its own article. Finally, as for your status, that doesn't matter. The premise of Wikipedia means that all entries are decided on the strength of their sources, not of the credentials of the presenter. Until you can get sources that back up your statements, it's all Original Research that must be removed (as you can see from the fact that multiple people revert you). I'm actually quite sorry you feel that way. I don't honestly have an opinion either way, but I do believe strongly in rules and having rules followed. I've linked you several times to the relevant policies involved, which are WP:V WP:RS and WP:NOTE. Also please note that I am not the only person that opposes you in adding that statement, so it is not a case of me constantly opposing you. When more than one person disagrees with you, it is best if you take a nice look at yourself and make sure that the problems is the other person, and not yourself. I have no problem with you and honestly hope that you will return one day and be a productive contributor, but if you refuse to learn policies and rules then you will likely run into trouble. [1] is the revision history of the article (all revisions of all pages are logged and saved). As you can see, I have reverted you twice now for policy reasons, and User:Plumtree100 has reverted you three times for vandalism. Many users do what is called 'recent changes patrol' [2] which watches for vandalism. If someone doing the patrol sees a section added to a mathematics building for a school calling it the home of 'the pirate game', they are likely to think it is one of our normal vandals adding nonsense. In addition, many users use their watchlist to keep an eye on articles they have an interest in or a have edited before, so they can remove problematic additions, so it is likely that the revisions came from one of these two sources. I would appreciate an apology for insinuating that I have a vendetta against you. Templarion 愛 18:45, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps with your mammouth knowledge you can look at everything that I have ever edited. If you care to do so, you will see that the only page I have altered is The Oxted School page (and related Pirate Game entry). Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot, you're always right. I'm "obviously" a vandal and not a member of the school's staff! May I suggest that delete everything that I've written on the basis that I'm obviously a liar! Alternatively you could just apologise.
