Please stop copy-pasting your draft edit

It appears that rather than just hit Resubmit, you're copy-pasting your draft onto new pages, or even pasting an extra copy onto the same page. Please stop doing this, it just makes things confusing and delays getting your page reviewed. Just keep making and saving your changes on one page, and if it gets turned down, then make the advised changes and hit Resubmit. Please help make this easy for the volunteer reviewers. Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you.

Answers to your questions edit

Hello, Taylor, a few answers to your questions:

  • Please don't feel that anyone is yelling at you: people are declining your drafts because they still need work, this is very common. Plenty of now-published articles spent many days in the drafting process before being approved.
  • Other editors have two concerns: rather than work on one single centralized draft, you're creating duplicate copies, or even pasting two copies of the same article on the same page. You can imagine, this gets confusing for reviewers because they can't tell which version is the one you want reviewed. Please make sure that any draft article about Ironshore is done on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ironshore, and that there is only one copy of the article on the page (don't copy and paste the whole article over and over again, just edit it directly).
  • The other issue is that your initial username was representing a corporation, not an individual, and also showed that "Ironshore" was writing "its own" article. Again, you can understand that we prefer that people affiliated with a company not write articles about the company, since it's very hard to be fair and neutral about someone you work for. You changed usernames, which you can do as long as there's no implication you're trying to be sneaky about it. I would suggest that for clarity that you paste on your userpage "Former account as User:Ironshore. Disclosure: I work for Ironshore as a Public Affairs intern (or whatever is is you do) and am working to give them a page that is correct and neutral."
  • While it's not forbidden to write about your employer, it is discouraged. I strongly advise you read WP:Conflict of interest. But that said, so long as you aren't at all trying to hide your affiliation, or ideally you are upfront about it, you can proceed.
  • If you're having troubles and need help from a volunteer mentor, you can always ask at WP:Teahouse. Just make sure that you give specific links to your issues. Don't just say "Hey guys I'm having trouble with my article, help!" because we are not mind readers and can't instantly guess everything that's going on. Make it easier on us and post something like "Hey guys, I'm an intern for Ironshore and I'm having trouble getting my draft Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ironshore approved; can you help explain why my draft was turned down?"

So those are my suggestions, does this help? MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:06, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
