April 2024 edit

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Government of National Accord, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. i want to write my first article. are there any articles that need to be created? i dont have anything in mind Syria4you (talk) 15:52, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Before jumping straight into article creation, which can be a long involved process, there are other things that can help get you acclimated to Wikipedia's policies and rules first. But if you're set on creating a new article, the guide might help you get started down that road. Q T C 15:55, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you see red-links in articles they may give ideas for possible notable subjects. As Q said above if you start by improving/fixing existing articles you will not only learn much about the policies and guidelines but you will find these. There is also Wikipedia:Requested articles, but note that just because someone requested it does not mean it is a notable subject. A final place to look for and active Wikipedia:WikiProject your interested in as several have lists or suggestions. For instance Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red has large lists - see Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Redlist index. KylieTastic (talk) 16:35, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
thank you very much this is going to help me. Syria4you (talk) 18:22, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
i also read online that you can make a draft and then submit when its good. is that a correct thing to do when you are creating ur first article? Syria4you (talk) 18:26, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, new users use Wikipedia:Articles for creation to create drafts that are then reviewed. Once users are experienced and understand the key policies and guidelines they create them directly in main-space, or in user or draft then move them themselves. These articles are still patrolled by Wikipedia:New pages patrol. KylieTastic (talk) 18:46, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
ok, makes sense. thanks for your help. Syria4you (talk) 18:49, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

help edit

i am working on creating my first ever article. i want to include pictures of the topic i am writing about. how do i upload pictures into wikipedia? Syria4you (talk) 21:18, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

If you are creating your first article, the last thing you want to do is try to upload images. They will not help get a draft accepted and open up a lot of potential issues if you are not careful about copyright and ownership of the images you wish to upload.
However, if you are determined in this matter, the place to start is c:Commons:First steps. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 21:53, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
sounds good. i appreciate your help Syria4you (talk) 22:50, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

help edit

so i just made this draft Draft:Yarmuk Camp Massacre. i think i did pretty good on it. my question is is there a way that this draft can get reviewed quicker?? i am very eager for it to be oficially uploaded on wikipedia. if you guys have the ability to review it and either accept or reject it, please do it if you have the time. thank u Syria4you (talk) 16:13, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, using the {{help}} templates to request expedited review is simply not appropriate. We acknowledge that the potentially long review times are a problem, but asking to jump to the top of the list is not helping. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 16:33, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
sorry, i understand. my main question was is there a way to make it quicker. cuz i read online that there are ways to get a speedy review Syria4you (talk) 16:35, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Does not exist. Stop using {{helpme}} for AFC questions. thetechie@wikimedia: ~/talk/ $ 17:08, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
