Esperanto translation/Keppel Enderby edit

Thanks for the information on Esperanto & Keppel I once knew how to say "Could you call the hall porter, there seems to be a frog in my bidet" in Esperanto but alas the lack of opportunity to make such a comment has meant that I have forgotten it. I'll go off and merge the Keppel pages. Cheers --Roisterer 04:22, 2 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

More on OSO at Waratah edit

I live on Bridge Street. I used to be a teacher at St. Philips believe it or not, but I left because of obvious reasons. Email me at one_salient_oversight@yahoo.com and I'll give you more info. --One Salient Oversight 01:29, 22 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, it's one_salient_oversight@yahoo.com.au - I forgot to put the .au --One Salient Oversight 09:10, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Re: the article on St. Philips. It looks interesting but have you checked Wikipedia:Schools? Moreover, with the allegations of staff/student abuse, it would most definitely need external links for verification. Without these, even if you come into contact with people who claim such abuse, you pretty much can't stop someone removing the relevant information. Chances are that the page will be afd or eventually changed by someone who realises that the claims of abuse may not be verifiable. --One Salient Oversight 08:57, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I might pop down the road tonight or tomorrow and take a picture of some of the school buildings and signage - that will give the article a GFDL image necessary for the article to survive afd. --One Salient Oversight 09:00, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Game edit

Nooo! Curses! Now I have lost the game as well! --AceMyth 13:10, 16 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Esperanto edit

I see that you are fluent in Esperanto; where did you learn it/who taught you, and how long did it take? I've always been interested in learning the language, but I've never found the opportunity to do so, and was hoping for some advice from a... kompetentulo? Your userpage was briefly delisted by a rogue admin edit

This user believes that only articles need reflect a NPOV, and that displaying political, religious, or other beliefs using userboxes and user categories should not be banned.

You have a userbox Template:User UN which links your userpage to United Nations Wikipedians. There is currently a movement to ban userboxes from Wikipedia which are shared and which create List of Wikipedians. Certain admins have taken it upon themselves to preemptively sabotage and/or delete such categories and template. Here is the incident report which reported damage to yours, in which hundreds of userpages were delinked from categories without the users' knowledge. They have been stopped, barely, and the damage reverted— for now.

There is a Wikipedia:Userbox policy poll, which if passed, will make required by policy the damage done to categories and templates such as User UN/United Nations Wikipedians. If you do not want this to happen, I urge you to vote Oppose. in the poll. Support is currently running at about 66%, and your vote could make the difference. It is said to require 75%-80% to be deemed reflective of consensus.

Thank you,

Bon courage! --Beforedecay 01:16, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Newcastle Gerald edit

A tag has been placed on Newcastle Gerald requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Phlegm Rooster (talk) 10:42, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Satanic head edit

Well, I tagged the article due to the lack of sources and notability. I don't know how to restore it if necessary, but I don't think it is. The sources provided share a lot of text in common, suggesting they are based on a common source, possibly a spoof. Notice that most references begin with "A cabeça satânica é um fantasma do folclore brasileiro." I really think the subject deserves more research. jggouvea (talk) 15:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

RE:Bart vs. Australia edit

The reason I removed it was because it was unreferenced. Everything on Wikipedia should be referenced, especially Good Articles. --TheLeftorium 13:05, 22 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

About "UoN" edit

Firstly please apologist my words if that make you not happy, since you would read what I noted for current history of changes. I am a foreign student who's taking BIT degree of The University of Newcastle, Australia at the PSB Academy in Singapore. As far as all students know here, PSB Academy had already been recognized as one of the university's overseas campus in Singapore, where is called "UoN Singapore" in short term.

There is another private school cooperated with The UoN (Aus) called TMC Academy here as well, but I only found that this partner is only allowed to provide engineering degree, (not like PSB, we got more.) and it is recognized as the Singapore branch of UoN's Engineering School, (well..., something like that.)

It is quite glad to meet you as we're both alumni of same uni, but just in different place of the earth, hah~hah~.

Best wishes to you, man!

An image, File:Uni-of-newcastle-crest-150.png, has been removed from your userpage, user talk page, or other page because it was licensed as non-free. Wikipedia's non-free policy states that Copyrighted images under fair use are only allowed to be used in articles about the subject of the image, and only if no free equivalent is available. For example they are not allowed to be used on user pages, in lists, or (typically) in biographies of living people.. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Invitation to Sydney editathon - Saturday 23rd November edit

There is a backstage pass coming up to be followed by an editathon in the State Library of New South Wales on Saturday 23 November. I'm hoping you might be able to make it down the big smoke for the occasion. This is the first time that an Australian cultural institution has opened its doors to us in this way and will be a special opportunity because the Library is providing: one of its best rooms; its expert curators (along with their expertise and their white gloves); a newly launched website (containing new resources); and of course, items from its collection (including rare and usually unavailable material) which we can look at, learn from, and use, to improve WP articles. For example, on the chosen topic (Australia and WWI), the Library holds many diaries and manuscripts from the period.

As you can see from the Library's project page, they have connected this editathon with their own work. They have already set out a wide range of resources to make things easier for us. Please sign up on the editathon project page if you can participate either online or in person with other Wikipedians. Hope to see you there! (Sorry if you've received this message before - I did a quick check but didn't see it.) 99of9 (talk) 11:02, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Newcastlegerald.gif edit

The file File:Newcastlegerald.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
