Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, SteveJF. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Jim Cooper (potter), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 13:55, 5 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Toss I have spent 2 days in reading the COI rules.I realise why you called me out! I know nothing about you except you are skilled - an editor on Wikipedia. I have a degree ìn History/Political Science. I taught High School for 30 years and adult education for a further 12 years. I know a bit about COI. My interest in edìting Jim Cooper's page is correcting errors and adding factual details that I have published sources to reference. October 2018 edit

  Hello, SteveJF, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as SteveJFNZ (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who use multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 13:58, 5 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
