Speedy deletion nomination of Mr Hare

Request for help on Ally Capellino

Hi Steph, I think it was you who left a message on my Talk page re improving this article with images. I've got the same issue with another article, BodyMap, and I managed to find contact details and emailed direct. What I said in my approach was that I had put this new article together and would like to improve it as a cultural/fashion history resource so a logo and image released onto Wikipedia would really assist with this. I received a very warm response and am just waiting to hear back. I would have thought Ally Capellino would be quite open to the idea too. Alison Lloyd is on Twitter but I can't find a direct email, but you could try the UK press office here [1].

Also perhaps explain that it's much easier if they do the image uploading as they hold the copyright, which makes the form filling process quick and easy (were you to do it you would have to get their permission). Here's the page they would need to go to to upload: [2]

Hey - it's a nice image, but sadly, the rules on Wikipedia are really firm about this. If you took a photograph of Margaret Howell yourself and uploaded it as your work, then there would be no problem with that. However, as Margaret Howell is still very much alive and kicking, policy is very clear on this - there is no valid fair-use rationale for images of living (or possibly living) people. See WP:NFCI for a list of permissible fair-use image types, particularly no.10, and WP:NFC#UUI for further clarification. Mabalu (talk) 12:30, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your help here, I'm still not 100% what I need to do. I thought that I had referenced the image, included a link - and included all information that Wikipedia asked me for. I'm not clear about 'no valid fair-use rationale for images of living (or possibly living) people' How can I upload a photo of her if she is alive, is the only way to do this by using a photo that I have taken? Thanks for your help.

Yes. The only other way would be to find a photograph uploaded to Flickr or similar with an appropriate free-use license, but I just checked and don't see anything on Flickr (unsurprisingly). To use this image, the photographer would need to contact Wikipedia to confirm that they are happy to release it into the public domain. Mabalu (talk) 13:01, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Clean up tags

Hi Steph Davies. Please do not remove clean up tags added to an article unless the reason the tag was added is no longer valid. These tags are for letting other editors know that there are isssues with the formatting, style, etc. of an article that require attention. Adding a clean up tag to an article lists it on a Wikipeda page devoted to such issues where other editors or bots are made aware of the issue. In the case of Margaret Howell, the references are all bare urls which is something that is not desireable because of the problem of link rot. The tag automatically adds the article to List of Wikipedia articles with bare URL citations so that other editors are aware of the problem. For future reference, you can eliminate for someone to clean up bare urls by adding complete citations to the article and not simply just a url address.
