Deletions edit

Please keep up new page patrolling but please learn the three different deletion methods: speedy, prod and AfD. In the case of Omar N'Gala Seck you applied a prod to the article - great. But having done so, you started an AfD discussion which was not needed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:18, 16 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dear RHaworth, I don't really expect but at least I hope that you've written the message personally, rather than subst:ed some template specifically designed for people like me, who have slightly messed up the procedure. :) If you happen to read this, please have in mind that I tag pages for deletion quite seldom here, only in cases when problematic users from Bulgarian Wikipedia stretch their unencyclopedic or vandal behaviour over English Wikipedia, too. Every time when I happen to do so, I discover that the deletion procedures have got more and more (and MORE) complicated than before. It's quite easy to get lost if it's not your everyday work to patrol in a foreign wiki or clean after crosswiki vandals, spammers, etc. However, I am absolutely grateful to know that somewhere out there, there are people like you who know and strictly follow all the procedures and are always happy to lend a helping hand to good faith contributors like me. I do have this this collection of standard messages but the above message was written carefully just for you. One wonders how a Senegalese has landed up in Bulgaria. Is Ebola90's Bulgarian as bad as their English? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:59, 16 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, the reason for landing is that the user has read some article in the Bulgarian version of the National Geographic magazine and seen the name in a caption under a photo. It was just a trivial mentioning rather than a dedicated publication. Currently, the BG article on the same topic is proposed for deletion with a 2-week discussion. That's not unusual for BGWP when it comes to BLPs written by relatively active Wikipedians.
I think that the user created the English article in an attempt to justify the existence of the Bulgarian one, once the deletion procedure has started on BGWP. Which is not surprising, of course, I've seen many similar cases and I believe you've also noticed such traits of behaviour from representatives of smaller wikis.
As for Ebola90's linguistic skills, of course he is better in Bulgarian than in English, as this is his mother tongue.  :) However, I think that he grossly lacks perception of what is encyclopedic and what is not... Spiritia 07:32, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
