Speedy deletion of Template:User beta edit

A tag has been placed on Template:User beta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:54, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dermoplast edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dermoplast, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? WLU (talk) 18:13, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sims 2 Expansion Packs.JPG) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Sims 2 Expansion Packs.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:23, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your FPC nominations edit

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I closed your nominations, Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/raw garnet and Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Pouring liquid mercury, as "Not promoted" per WP:SNOW. We welcome you contributions to FPC and I encourage you to nominate more images. Before you do so, you may want to review the FP criteria. If you're unsure if a picture meets the criteria, feel free to add the image to Picture Peer Review where experienced users will comment on it. Thanks. I hope to see you at FPC again. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Sandbox/test and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:Sandbox/test during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Proposed deletion of Kiosk hacking edit

The article Kiosk hacking has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced dictionary definition, unlikely notable, tagged since 2007

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Pnm (talk) 05:20, 21 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Secure Digital edit

Thanks for the great link, but please DON'T link to "secret" official documents, like you did in the Secure Digital article, otherwise their lawyers may contact Wikipedia, like they did for the Conventional PCI article. Most likely you don't want to be in the middle of that type of mess. • SbmeirowTalk • 00:12, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh, okay. I'll keep that in mind for future reference. Any way we can point people in the right direction though? flarn2006 [u t c] 00:16, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
What a person posts on a hacker blog is NOT the same as what you can post on Wikipedia. Laws vary from country to country, and some consider it illegal to link to illegal content. I recommend that you do not point to any hacker sites, but you can do what ever you like to do, since I'm not an administrator. If Wikipedia gets a letter from a lawyer, then you might be at risk of being banned, so you need to ask yourself...is the risk worth it??? • SbmeirowTalk • 03:20, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
By the way, thanks for the link to that document! • SbmeirowTalk • 03:23, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification edit

Hi. In Stockholm syndrome, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Taxi (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 13:38, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Google search works.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Google search works.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Thermostat.jpg missing description details edit

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 09:05, 14 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest edit

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:23, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Leo Bretholz edit

Thanks for your sympathy. flarn2006 [u t c] time: 02:58, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome. That said, I tagged his article with a few things. It appears he, you, and others who knew him, edited his article. That's fine, but it would be great if you could have some sources, anything, including his book, to use. The reason I say this is that I like to find awesome things to list for Did you knows, which will appear on the Main Page. (Here's a list of mine for examples.) I think the fact that Leo escaped seven times during the Holocaust is a very noteworthy mention. Unfortunately, the DYK requires outside sources. Wish we had some. — Wyliepedia 03:23, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I added one just to have a reference. I checked at DYK, and the article needed to have been "expanded" by 80% with the past five days it's nominated, or be a new article. So, it can't be nominated. Too bad someone didn't catch this years ago, instead of vandalizing the page. I think the Holocaust story needs to be kept alive and mentioning his escaping it would've done just that. — Wyliepedia 03:52, 10 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
