The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Alcohol and Native Americans edit

Hello, Spaceboyjosh, and thank you for your contributions!

I wanted to let you know it seems an article you worked on, Alcohol and Native Americans, is copied from another Wikipedia page, American Indian alcoholism. It's fine to do this as long as you provide the following information in the edit summary:

  1. a link to the article you copied from
  2. the date you copied it

You can do this now by editing the page, making any minor edit to the article, and adding the above information into the edit summary.

If you're still not sure how to fix the problem, please leave a message at the help desk. It's possible that I made a mistake, so feel free to remove the tag I placed on the article.

Thanks again for helping build the free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 16:39, 24 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Alcohol and Native Americans edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give American Indian alcoholism a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen.

I fully agree with your reasoning for moving the article - I've reverted the copy-and-paste move and requested that an admin move the article in the correct manner. Thanks. --McGeddon (talk) 20:34, 24 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fernando Fernández edit

I am sorry, but you are wrong in both accounts. The article is about Fernando Fernández and therefore any information that is posted in the infobox of that article should be about him and not the product which he created. Second, just because there are pictures of certain products in Wikipedia does not give you the right to upload and post a picture of a product in violation of copyright laws. You must obtain permission from the company who owns that copyright to it's labels to do so. Create an article on the rum itself if you wish, just remember here in Wikipedia we are strict when it comes to copyright laws. 16:09, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Why did you take off the information and reference? There was no explanation. Hahahenny (talk) 14:47, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sorry that was supposed to be esau scrip Hahahenny (talk) 14:48, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Because it was incorrectly sourced, and because it doesn't belong in the lead of the article. I corrected the source and moved it to the page Company scrip. Spaceboyjosh (talk) 15:51, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

It might be good to leave a note so new people know what has happened. Hahahenny (talk) 22:09, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

At the top of every Wikipedia article, there is a tab called "View History." Click it, and you'll see that many edits are accompanied by little notes; that is where I left my explanation. For future reference, please consult this page: Wikipedia:Citing_sources. For quick instructions on how to cite a web source (such as a news website), bookmark this page: Template:Cite_web Be sure to put your references in the article itself; do not put them in the "references" section.
