WP:LINK

I'm confused by your recent removals of links from the "Personnel" sections of Blink-182 and Blink-182 (album), citing WP:LINK as your reason. I believe linking the relevant instruments/roles is appropriate as the links are contextual, link to subjects not immediately familiar to readers who are not well-versed in the lingo of musical recordings, and therefore enhance readers' understanding of the topics. Specifically, the manual of style for the Albums project says to link the forms of participation on the first occurrence. This is standard practice project-wide for album and musician articles, and unless I'm mistaken all of our FAs link roles in this way. Would you mind specifying what part of WP:LINK you believe necessitates removal of these links? --IllaZilla (talk) 21:52, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

P.S. Noticed your note at the top of the page...I've watchlisted this page for the duration of the conversation, so you don't have to bother leaving talkback message for me. --IllaZilla (talk) 21:54, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

"Avoid linking plain English words." Though some people may not be extremely musically inclined, the words on the page are clear enough. "Guitar", "bass guitar", "vocals", and "drums" should be easy to specify. I frequently make bass into bass guitar for clarification, but an article link isn't completely necessary. I mean, you'd think guitar and bass guitar and vocals and drums are pretty clear topics, no? --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 02:04, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
You have to consider the context, though. Linking "guitar" in a running sentence might seem like overlinking, but linking it in a list of musicians and the instruments they play (which is what the personnel section is) is entirely relevant. Those of us who are musically literate know the difference between a guitar, a bass guitar, and a double bass, and between a drum kit and other percussion instruments, but it's reasonable to assume that not everyone who might be reading our articles is familiar with these different instruments, and if nowhere else in the article the Personnel section is the most contextual place to link them. And certainly some of the terms you de-linked like recording engineer, mix engineer, etc. aren't everyday lingo...unless you already know musical studio jargon you wouldn't know what those roles meant without using the links. --IllaZilla (talk) 05:53, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, I guess you're right. I see a lot of pages that constantly have me reverted when I link instruments citing WP:LINK, and I figured that plain English words covered those reverts. If you look at the page of In Fear and Faith, I've been reverted at a minimum of three times for adding links, haha. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 12:00, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Haha well, when it comes to the Personnel section you can always point other editors to Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Article body#Personnel. The Musicians project doesn't have a similar style guide but the principle is exactly the same. --IllaZilla (talk) 15:10, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a ton man. I'll remember that. Haha. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 20:27, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Hilarious

I came across some amazingly funny vandalism that I think you may get a laugh out of here. • GunMetal Angel 21:59, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

That was possibly the best vandalism I've ever seen on this site, with the exception of that wave of vandalism on Tosh.0's page when he told his fans to do it. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 02:02, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Beau Bokan

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Beau Bokan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Woe, Is Me new song

Woe, Is Me did not release a new song, it was leaked completely on accident. Even any comments regarding it on any of their online profiles get deleted on-sight. The band are trying to cover this leak up the best they can, so it's best to not mention it on the article for them. Just kindly letting you know, but to speak personally I hope you heard it because it is sick as hell. =3 -- GunMetal Angel 20:22, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Oh, okay. Gotcha. They are playing it at live shows though. And I didn't think what the band asks matters, haha. But I'll trust your judgment. I heard it, and yeah, it's amazing. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 20:48, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm assuming you made the edit implying that the cover was for a new album, perhaps you'd like to take a look at this? https://twitter.com/#!/tylercarter4L/status/47131386938798080 ;p - Jer757 20:44, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Daren Pfeifer

You edited Daren out of the members section for Undead claiming that Biscuitz was in the Been To Hell video. Sorry, but that was still Daren Pfeifer in the Been To Hell video. Daren Pfeifer was also with them on The Lopez Show this week: http://www.crushdrum.com/crush-drums-news/1593-daren-pfeifer-performs-hollywood-undead-lopez-tonight-show-watch-video

Biscuitz is currently drumming for his old metal band All Hail the Yeti, hope this helps. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.219.199.19 (talk) 16:58, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

35forMVP (talk) 18:37, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

hello, we should move decoder under new name.. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Decoder_%28band%29&action=history

No, we just need to make sure people understand it isn't whatever Decoder he's talking about. There's no other notable Decoder band. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 19:49, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
There is a pending legal action going on with regard to the second "Decoder" infringing the service mark of the first band. So perhaps that should be noted.: 99.231.245.110 (talk) 12:51, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

I tried to find one. No source around. IF you find a reliable source, we'll include that there is dispute in the current page for the progressive rock band. Just because of legal action, however, does not mean that Wikipedia will be sued for using another Decoder. If the name is changed, we move the page. Simple as that. Besides, the classic metal band isn't even notable. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 16:51, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

The action is not publicly published at this time. All I'm aware of are private emails at this point. However, see articles on Service Marks. The original band clearly has a case based on the fact that they were around first and using the name actively. 99.231.245.110 (talk) 13:49, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

For the last time. No source, reliability. See WP:RS. Also, the active use of the name means nothing when it comes to being musically notable, which classic metal Decoder is not, and progressive rock Decoder is. Legal actions are notable to include in articles IF sourced, and would still not affect Wikipedia directly. Find a source, and we'll see what needs to be changed. For now, leave it alone. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 15:11, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

An old edit, but a serious issue...

I was looking at the Rise Records page, and in this edit you made on 2/23/2011, you "reworked" the Velocity Records section, making Dave Shapiro the "owner" of The Agency Group. I don't know where you got that idea, but neither the source referenced in the article nor Shapiro's Agency page (which I added) call Shapiro the "owner" - he is a booking agent for the company. MSJapan (talk) 17:15, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Holy shit. I completely missed that. Thank you very much for fixing that. Wow...I have to check myself better. --KЯĀŽΨÇÉV13 00:43, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

Ice Nine Kills

You may or may not have heard of the metalcore band Ice Nine Kills (good band, but here's where I wanna get down to business...) there is a big debate going on as to weather the article should be deleted or not & well I just want more parties to be invited to this because personally I believe the article should be kept. They're signed to Ferret without to mention if you check out that page it shows so much more reason for it to be kept. We've assisted each other on this site several times before, so consider this invitation =) ~ GunMetal Angel 19:12, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
