This is your only warning. If you add a spam link again, as you did to Smoking ban, you will be blocked. Kafziel Talk 12:33, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

WTF? I have been trying to add my link, www.smokinglobby.com to the Smoking Ban Wiki for the past week, and someone keeps deleting it!

My company, Smoking Lobby, was the FIRST pro smoker website to start a site on the internet in 1999, before FORCES even came online. We are the standard in Smoking Ban discussions, because we do not censor anyone - all smokers and non-smokers are welcome. I have been interviewed in CBS marketwatch, AP and the Washington Post (read our Press Release section), because Smoking Lobby is the only outlet for everyone to have a voice discussing this issue.

Now you tell me I'm adding a SPAM link to the page?!?!?! Smoking Lobby has been fighting spam for almost a decade now, fending off hack attempts by the anti-smoking groups and others.

EXPLAIN YOURSELF

Um, yeah - you just answered your own question several times over: "my link", "my company", "we are the standard", etc. We don't allow self-promotion. See this guideline and this policy on why. If you want to advertise on the Internet, you're going to need to pay for it like everyone else. Wikipedia isn't a free billboard. Kafziel Talk 14:00, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

WTF EVEN MORE?!?!?!?!

I DON'T MAKE ANY MONEY OFF SMOKINGLOBBY WE ARE NON-PROFIT!!!!!!!!!!! ALL we have are 3 freakin' Google ADsense links which pay for web hosting! So someone else has to add my link!??! I can't add my own link because it's self-promotion?!?!

Did you even look at smokinglobby you fascist before you started deleting the free flow of information on this site? IT IS A DISCUSSION FORUM!!! ALL WE DO IS TALK ABOUT SMOKING BANS

You need to be repoprted - this is a wiki about Smoking Bans and we discuss Smoking Bans - EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS IS NOT RELVEVANT.

And then explain to me why FORCES, who does the same thing, also has a link on this site. And then explain to me why you have 10 sites which are anti-smoking, SOME OF WHOM ARE NOT EVEN NON-PROFIT!!!, also have links on this site.

Who said anything about profit? If you don't make any money from it that sucks for you, but it doesn't mean you can use Wikipedia for advertising. Did you look at the pages I directed you to? Did they make exceptions for non-profit organizations? No.
I don't need to explain why FORCES has a link. I didn't put it there. We're talking about you, not them. Don't worry about what they're doing, because it's never going to justify what you've been doing. I don't cater to whiny "if I can't have a cookie, neither can they" stuff. That's childish. And this isn't some big anti-smoking conspiracy. I'm a smoker in New York, so I've felt the pain of the smoking ban. But I am not going to let you plug your own website. If it means that much to you, go buy a banner ad somewhere. Kafziel Talk 14:14, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I did look at the link you sent, and I emailed my request to the Wiki staff. What you are saying simply makes no sense to me. How am I promoting my site? My site is dedicated to Smoking bans. It's all we talk about, all day, every day. How is this not relevant to this article?

In fact, it may be the ONLY external link listed which is directly relevant to this article. I would imagine anyone who wants to read about Smoking bans and comes to Wiki would want to see other websites which are directly relevant to that topic. If you can give me one good explanation as to why our website is not relevant to this Wiki, you will hear from me no more.

We frown on personal websites because the information is not reliable. You can write whatever you want there. We try to keep privately owned websites to a minimum because we don't like to send our readers to unreliable websites if we can help it. Kafziel Talk 14:24, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
