Aloha edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed a recent edit on Extremely large telescope where you removed a source with the edit summary "Page not found". Normally we do not remove sources for that particular reason as it is not a requirement that the source be online just that it be accurately summarized, published from a reliable source, from an experienced journalist or expert in the field etc.. Also, sometimes a page may be archived in what is called the Wayback Machine and can be linked from the archive for convenience. Not a huge and no reason to revert that, but should you have a moment, perhaps you could look and see if the source was legitimate and if it is not available online but still verifiable, it can be returned. Thanks and happy editing.--Mark Miller (talk) 18:16, 7 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mahalo, Mark. I'm new to contributing to Wikipedia and was unaware of this protocol. I'll take a look and revise my change accordingly. Thanks again. --SmallWon (talk) 18:25, 7 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
No problem. Another tip; when responding to post on a talk page, always add : before the text. This is the wikicode for indenting the text. This allows readers to see the chronological flow of the text. For each additional reply you add additional colons. They don't show up as text unless used in the body of text: Like this (although it will effect text at other time so we use special wikicode to wrap around the character to keep the code from working like - <nowiki>:</nowiki>.
Here is our more formal welcome template. It has all the tips you will need to enjoy editing on Wikipedia within the frame work established by the consensus of editors over the last 15 years. It can be overwhelming so, if you have any questions please feel free to ask on my talk page.

This is being posted on your Talk page where you can receive messages from other Wikipedians and discuss issues and respond to questions. At the end of each message you will see a signature left by the editor posting. This is done by signing with four ~~~~ or by pressing   or   in the editing interface tool box, located just above the editing window (when editing). Do not sign edits that you make in the articles themselves as those messages will be deleted, but only when using the article talkpage, yours or another editor's talkpage. Mark, you're fantastic. Thanks again! SmallWon (talk) 21:26, 7 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

In the meantime, I found an alternative URL to the document of the removed source of the article. Of course, I'm sure you planed to do that any time soon. So no more removals of URL, OK? Use Template:dead link instead. -- Cheers, Rfassbind -talk 18:31, 10 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
