Welcome edit

Hello, Sunghea Khil and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Chris Troutman (talk) 22:58, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I just finished the wikipedia orientation/training. Does it show on record? I'm not sure how to check. Also, is it possible to change my user name please?--Sunghea Khil (talk) 05:35, 7 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I can see you completed the training. Your contributions are visible at Special:Contributions/Sunghea Khil. When you're logged in you can find this at the top of the page at "contributions." Yes, you can change your username at WP:CHU. That page has instructions on making a request. Chris Troutman (talk) 19:25, 7 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I am looking into Transfer of Development Rights, and this is under Air Rights. However, through research and discussing with Dr. Longcore, we are sure that this needs to be its own page. How can we go about requesting Transfer of Development Rights to be its own separate page? Thank you. Skyplanner (talk) 23:03, 11 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Transfer of development rights is a redirect. Create your sandbox entry. When you're ready I'll have that redirect deleted so your sandbox can be moved to that article space. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:14, 11 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello Chris, Could you help me move what I have in my sandbox to the article space? Skyplanner (talk) 09:44, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Your sandbox entry needs some serious work before I'd move it to the main namespace.
  1. You've more or less stolen content from this document, this document, and this document. Not only do you need to cite where you get information you need to avoid close paraphrasing. If I can google a random sentence and find that sentence somewhere else, you've stolen content. Wikipedia is CC-BY-SA so you need to contribute in your own words, using quotes sparingly. I'm very offended that I would have to address this with you.
  2. You've bolded headers when you should be using equal signs, per WP:LAYOUT
  3. You need a reference section. See WP:CITE on formatting your in-line citations.
  4. The sandbox reads like an essay. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia so articles have to be written neutrally. Unlike other writing assignments, you're not supposed to make an argument for or against. Articles should provide a single balanced view based on the consensus of sources.
Make those corrections and let me know so I can review what you have before we attempt moving this sandbox. If you have questions, please ask. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:37, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dear Chris, I apologize for offending you. I think I misunderstood the degree of completion for the article because my sandbox was not finished. As you said, it was full of content that I found on other documents. I was hoping to clean things up once it is in the space, but I should have realized that it should have been cleaned up and worked on before it went out to the article space. Again, I apologize for this. I will let you know when I am ready for you to review it. Thank you. Skyplanner (talk) 18:34, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Air Rights edit edit

Hi, I reluctantly edited down some of your very well written text on the air rights section. Specifically, you had a lengthy section on TDR. I cut out most of the text about TDR in general, as it wasn't relevant to the air rights article, and left a condensed paragraph about the application of TDR to vertical development. No personal offense intended, of course, it was good text, but just not in due weight to the rest of the article, and most of it just wasn't relevant to air rights as construed by the article. I would VERY much recommend that you start a TDR article, as there doesn't seem to be one. As an urban planner, I would like to see one there. It just didn't belong on the air rights article. See the Talk page for the article if you have more questions.
