Roy Z

It´s always a blessing when you came to wikipedia and see such good content added to one of your own "watched" articles! Good work! Back when I´ve created the Roy Z page I could not believe it wasn´t done before. I even thought Roy Z wasn´t as dearly regarded by the metal community, but after creating the page many people contributed their time to the article. Sometimes when you feel something is missing from wikipedia it´s best to write a short stub than step aside, there´s always others who like the same things as you. Keep the good job! Marijuana Wiki

Hi there,

I see that you are a pro-Cannabis Wikipedian so I hope this will be of some interest to you.

I've started a Marijuana wiki (aka The Sticky Wiki) which I think you might be interested in. I'm hoping you can help me get started with this project. Whereas lots of articles about weed get speedy-deleted on Wikipedia, they would be totally cool over at MarijuanaWiki. But really I want the site to be more of a marijuana community than merely an encyclopedia.

To give you an example, I want to have city guides about where to score, find pot-friendly cafes, marijuana events, and what represents a good price in that city. Etc. (You can check out the featured article: "Toronto" to see what I mean). I also want to have grow diaries and marijuana blogs. All in all, basically more communal than encyclopedic.

I am in need of admins/moderators, and people experienced with MediaWiki to help build policy, categories, and templates, etc. If you'd be interested in helping me with this project, the URL is MarijuanaWiki

Look at Death Angel's page at Metal-Archives. Have you ever really visited that website? It's an encyclopedia that collects metal-only bands. Their page at Metal-Archives is accurate and it was released in 1985. Sorry. Mr. Metal Head 22:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. Michael Bisping Bio

Alright mate, nice work on the Michael Bisping bio, I've corrected a couple of minor errors but there's one small thing that doesn't look quite right that I'd like you to take a quick look at:

"In 1994, at the age of 15, Bisping competed as an amateur in England's first MMA competition... ...Davies, who was then running a mixed martial arts gym in Nottingham, encouraged Bisping to visit his gym, and it was there that Bisping first learned about the new sport of mixed martial arts."

I haven't corrected it because I can't be sure but it looks like either he first discovered MMA at in 1994 or that that wasn't an MMA event.

Once again, nice work on the article.

P.s. Well done on smoking the smelly stuff, have you yet been involved with the Marijuana wiki mentioned above? And if so how is it coming along? --TheCooperman 12:32, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

UFC pages/links

Hello, this is Ivan Trembow of MMAWeekly. I noticed that you (or someone else around the same timeframe) posted links to my recent article about the UFC's 2006 pay-per-view buyrates. Even if you weren't the one who added that link, this message still applies to you because you appear to have a semi-regular role in maintaining the UFC event pages on Wikipedia.

The only problem with the links to the PPV article is that they pointed to the article on MMAWeekly, and the links on MMAWeekly expire after a certain number of weeks. Everything that I write about mixed martial arts is published on both MMAWeekly and on my own personal web site. So, I have replaced the links to the PPV article on MMAWeekly with links to the same article on my own site. It is the same exact article from the same exact author (me), but at a permanent URL that won't expire.

On some other UFC event pages, I have also added other links to specific articles that I have written, in cases where I felt it was appropriate. For example, on the pages for the live TV events that the UFC has held, I added information about the TV ratings for those events and linked to the full articles if people want more information.

The same goes for the Fighter Salaries for every UFC event starting in April 2005, although I wasn't sure where to put those particular links because they do not necessarily fall under the "Sources" section for any given UFC event page on Wikipedia, but they do contain relevant information that a very large percentage of MMA fans are interested in reading. You may have a better idea of where to put those links on any given "UFC event page," so please feel free to move them to a different spot on the page if you feel that there's a more appropriate spot.

Also, please note that I made the vast majority of these changes without using my account, which I just created in the last few hours, so the majority of my edits will show up as just being from the IP address 69.175.88.28

Any feedback/comments/questions on any of the changes I've made would be much appreciated.

ALSO: I wanted to ask you this since you are a regular Wikipedia contributor and probably know the answer. When adding relevant information that is fully relevant to a page, such as the TV ratings for a UFC TV event, or the fighter salaries for a UFC PPV event (or TV event), what is the proper way of doing so? Would it be to include the information and a link (with just the "1" or "2" external link notation) in the body of the page along with the rest of the description? Or would it be to include something in the "External Links" section of the page that links to an article with the relevant information? Or is it both? The info on TV ratings and fighter salaries is very relevant information, but I'm not 100% sure how to properly implement it.

Hi, thank you for the information. Regarding the links that I previously posted, that topic is currently being discussed on the WikiProjects: MMA page that you mentioned. It has been noted that the Wikipedia Guidelines say to only post links to blogs if it features a "well-known, professional researcher writing within his field of expertise," so the topic seems to hinge on whether or not I qualify as a "well-known, professional researcher writing within his field of expertise."

As I noted in the discussion area of that page, I certainly hope that my body of work in MMA journalism over the years would fit into the aforementioned category, but that is not up to me to decide; it will be up to the members of the MMA WikiProject to decide.

Also, regarding what you noted about in-article posting with the little 1 or 2 next to something in the body of an article, I agree with you that in-article posting is generally the easiest way. But I also wanted to ask: If I do the in-article linking, am I then required to post a link at the bottom of that page so that people can see what the "1" link is? Evolution of UFC rules

Thanks for finishing that section as I have only in fact see UFCs 1 to 12. I noticed in UFC 11, Colemann won by forfeit in the final because the alternate had broken his hand in winning his alternate fight. This is the flip side of UFC 3 where Jennum won because or at least partly due to the fact he only fought one fight all night.
