Speedy deletion nomination of Bill Simon, Jazz Musician edit

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Bill Simon, Jazz Musician requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. RichardLowther (talk) 18:59, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Bill Simon edit

Please be careful when you edit Wikipedia, and use the "Preview" button before saving your changes to make sure that they are what you intended. When you moved Bill Simon to Bill Simon (Politician), you should have used a lower-case "p" as explained at WP:NC. Then, when you created a disambiguation page, you wrote a link to Bill Simon(politician), correctly using the lower-case letter but leaving out a space, so the link did not work. Finally, all these actions caused all the other articles that linked to Bill Simon to now have incorrect links; you should have checked for these links before moving the page around. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 09:35, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Bill Simon Politician is a different person!

Bill Simon entry revised edit

I've revised the entry considerably and added source material after studying Wikipedia guidelines. I think I've explained Bill Simon's important contributions to the jazz world of the mid 20th century. Could the tag at the top be removed now? As for the photos I'm trying to figure out what to do, I've written for help so that hopefully at least one can remain. (Simonfamily (talk) 22:55, 3 October 2009 (UTC))Reply

neutrality maintained edit

Thank you for improving on the style and adding external links. Please indicate the specific text that shows lack of neutrality. Also, where should the citations be placed? The text for this page was written by Gunnar Jacobson, a jazz expert, and then improved by several different people. I made the initial mistake of calling it Simonfamily and it seems that the neutrality is automatically questioned for this reason. I hope this will not be held against the article. We've been very careful to be totally factual, maintain neutrality and remove anything questionable. Members of this family who have provided input are published authors, professional musicians and academics. And they have the archives providing information.
