February 2019 edit

Hello, I'm LakesideMiners. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Music City Roots— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. LakesideMinersMy Talk Page 17:42, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Music City Roots edit

Hi ... I just reverted your creation of a separate Music City Roots article before I saw that you requested assistance from User:LakesideMiners after they reverted you earlier. It seemed to me that the language used to describe the program was spam-ish. Since you seem to be a new editor here, you might check out WP:DRAFTS and WP:WikiProject Articles for creation. Regards, --sanfranman59 (talk) 20:42, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi again and thanks for your note on my talk page. I'm sorry that you're running into such interference. I don't really do any article creation around here these days or know the details of WP's Draft namespace. I suggest you try to get some help with that. Perhaps someone at the Help Desk or the Village Pump) could guide you? Another idea is to find a few articles about other radio programs to see how they approach the fine line between being encyclopedic and being promotional. Happy editing! --sanfranman59 (talk) 21:09, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sorry Shootmart, but I'm going to have to revert your work again. You're just putting up the same spammy-sounding language (IMO). Furthermore, I just discovered that you're copying at least some of the language directly from here and here and here. That's a definite no-no as it's likely to be a copyright infringement. I strongly suggest that you look at various WP pages that are designed to help new editors. --sanfranman59 (talk) 21:25, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Look, I'm more than happy to give you the benefit of doubt here that you're a big fan of this program and not someone affiliated with it who's just looking for a cheap way to advertise. But if you just put the same thing up in mainspace again, I will start going through the process WP has for reporting vandalism. Please get some help with creating this article and don't use language verbatim from other sources. --sanfranman59 (talk) 21:33, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I just looked up Head and Shoulders shampoo as an example. Not moderator has put a redirect on that page and redirected to Proctor and Gamble since they are related. They are two different things that are related. I'm not spamming anything. I'm simply trying to fix something that Wikipedia has so many times have gooten wrong on this WMOT / Music City Roots thing. It's a real thing. Not spam. I put up something that I could easily put up just to get it going. I expect others to join in from the community and put some edits in there, but how is that going to happen if it keeps getting redirected to something that it is not?

For one thing, use your own language and don't copy verbatim from other sources. For another, pretty much the only editing I do these days around here is vandalism patrolling. I've suggested several times now that you go ask for help from the sources that WP provides for such things. There are many, many resources available. If you strongly believe that the article should fly just as you've been putting out there and that I'm being unreasonable, you can always seek redress through WP's dispute resolution process. --sanfranman59 (talk) 21:47, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
