Re: Why are my IPs always blocked?

As with any problem involving a huge number of sockpuppets, dynamic IPs, and sleeper accounts to circumvent protection, it's difficult to offer any concise explanation. =\ Someone on Tiscali has been harassing several users. The problem's been ongoing for weeks, perhaps over a month. I've tried protection and shorter blocks (an hour, say) when abuse got really bad, but at the time of the block, things had been nasty for several days and showed no signs of improving. Was hoping a longer block would have more impact, encouraging them to move on. I've also been (I think) as helpful as I can in answering requests by affected users, apologizing for their trouble and either helping them to log in or registering usernames on their behalf. But, given the amount of innocent bystanders affected by the block, I've lifted it and will seek other solutions.
