About that article you want to create. edit

I suspect James Ward Porter will be an article on its own, not just part of some other article. I don't usually review drafts or take a personal interest in "COI" article proposals on the help desk, as they are all too often either self-promotional, or garage bands, or other marginal stuff that end in frustration. Your proposed article looks very promising, so please feel free to hit my talk page, or respond here on your talk page. if you follow the instructions at WP:YFA you will end up with an article named Draft:James Ward Porter, and some reviewer, possibly me, will work with you to make it better, and then move it into main space as James Ward Porter. -Arch dude (talk) 07:23, 18 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Good Morning (10:29 PDT) from sunny southern California, Arch dude:

I'm still figuring out how to use this interface, so please forgive any faux pas I may make in trying to reply to your messages. Thank you very much for replying to me so quickly, and for your personal interest. I apologize that right now I am swamped, so if I end up being the person to write this article (which I am still hoping to avoid, due to double COI and time constraints), it will be a few weeks at best before I get to the process of learning, editing, and then writing the article for James Ward Porter. I'd sorely hoped that another of his descendants or admirers would take on the task. I will come back to this shortly.

Many many thanks, Shira Shiradestinie (talk) 17:30, 18 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

postponing creation (but continuing to request that someone else write it) of article, temporarily edit

If no one else is available to write the article, and if my COI (being a direct descendant and also being the hopefully soon former sub-project coordinator of the slavery project on WikiTree, which also involves close watching of his profile there) is not a problem, then I will come back to writing this article in about 3 weeks or so, or by the end of July, 2020. There is no deadline. We've waited 150 years, so we can wait another 3 weeks. By declaring your COI and writing and submitting a draft instead of just creating the article, you will be fully compliant with WP:COI: a reviewer will go through and clean up any unconscious bias that may have crept in. The only possible issue will be our fairly high standards for "reliable sources", but I'm guessing that we will be OK there. -Arch dude (talk) 17:39, 18 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Coolness: many thanks! Shiradestinie (talk) 17:54, 18 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
