Reverts at Karen (slang) edit
Hi, Shelbybaxter! I wanted to let you know that I reverted your edits at this article because they didn't seem appropriate for the lead (the lead is for the most important things that are already in the article sections) and the sources weren't reliable or represented original research. Thanks, Valeree--I appreciate the feedback. Sorry, I don't know how to PM you (I'm still new to this process), but wanted to ask about it to get it right next time: The critique had mentioned that sources that include blogs, interviews, opinion pieces, letters to the editor, and the like may not be adequate. I'm concerned with is getting the adequate research for inclusion. Many sources with the concern over the name use are the women with the name themselves speaking their truths, so they are personal experiences, etc. (As likely observed, one of the best sources in this regard is https://karenismyname.org/ is a combination of sources, stories, and perspectives on those from her Facebook group where each member is verified to have received the birth name Karen and she independently fact-checks the stories on the site.) The primary academic pieces are articles addressing the general psychological damage of name-based bullying, but there is little original research on the Karen phenomenon specifically beyond the women themselves available as source material. Even the law firms that have published professional legal opinions focus on the general pejorative use vs. the use against someone with the name. Thus, could I trouble the community to share more of what would pass muster here to show the struggles humans associated with the name are experiencing (into which I am including the ethnic Karen such as here: https://karennews.org/2021/07/words-hurt-karen-women-demand-an-apology-from-foreign-policy-magazine/)?
