Citytrain maps

Yeah, about to work on the Gold Coast map before I hit the hay, which was done earlier in a experiment by another user but eventually caused layout issue concerns. So I'll be giving the GCL a go again using the format you've put up, and see how that goes. (Edit: seemed that GC template was done by time rather than KM, and tired as is, so I'll sort it tommorow arv as well) So i'll look at getting the Cleveland line, and probably Nambour/Gympie a shot tommorow afternoon. Suburbs of Brisbane

Obviously I disagree; similar to Category:Suburbs of Sydney and Category:Suburbs of Melbourne, the category should cover all neighbourhoods in the greater Brisbane urban area, regardless of LGA. However, I am aware that WP:BRIS feels differently so I won't argue the point.

The reason I changed the category was because they were using Category:Towns in Queensland which is clearly inappropriate. I am only interested in rural Queensland and have no interest in the SEQ conurbation at all. Sorry if I caused any problems. -- Mattinbgn\^talk 05:07, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Re council amalgamations - while some will go into the new article it's anticipated a fair amount of it would stay at the old. I'm busily dealing with the 1994 Victorian amalgamations at the moment, which involves creating a whole bunch of articles for lapsed Victorian entities such as City of Altona. That's correct - my understanding would be that the new articles would be primarily about the new entities, with a history section which links back to the old ones and briefly summarises them. Brisbane railway template image header

I think the railway articles should have QR maroon and white or maroon and yellow colour headings just like Melbourne's template is similar to the Connex colours. Even though Melbourne's public transport funds are collected by Metlink just like Brisbane's is by Translink, they have used the colours of the rolling stock operators. The same applies for Sydney as well where they have used the colours of CityRail for the railway templates.

If you decide to go with Translink colours, can I suggest using one of the colours other than white for the background. It stands out more and looks more appealing. I reverted the changes you made recently because there is an error in the template heading image probably due to the left image and right image script, thanks. Firstly, Melbourne's templates mimic Metlink, not Connex, which is exactly what I am trying to similarly achieve with the new template mimicking TransLink. Secondly, you can't get better contrast that dark blue on a white background for ease of reading, which I would suspect is why the designers of TransLink's visual identity scheme went that way. Lastly, if something doesn't appear correctly, I'd be appreciative to see a screenshot of it – I tested it in Firefox and Internet Explorer, and the only problem I witnessed was IE not obeying the specified table row width (which I eventually fixed). Citytrain template

User:Matt ke had revert to his earlier version, but stuffed up the brisways and he had cited problems before that he didnt explain earlier. Reverted each other once only (to avoid getting into a war), but then done a hybrid version of the infobox retaining the current TL theme and borders. Translink infoboxes

One more issue with the infoboxes is that the co-ordinates appear to overlap the image in the infobox. If the script is corrected so that the co-ordinates appear above the infobox then it should be perfect. This is happening on Internet Explorer 7, Thanks.

I've never understood why we would would want to have co-ordinates listed in an Infobox in the top-right of the article, immediately under the co-ordinates at the top-right-most of the page! Thank you IE7, a bug that really is a feature! Remove inline from the co-ordinates tag (leaving just display=title only), and move the whole co-ordinates tag to the bottom of the page.  SEO⁷⁵ 09:38, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Seo75. I put the new logo at the top of the TV page. I think it's a reasonable move, as the ABC management have already said they'll be using the new logo in a few days. It's the talk of the town. Ferny Grove to Dayboro train line

Hey. I just took a look at the modifications you made to the Camp Mountain train disaster page, and noticed you had a partial map of the original Dayboro train line. Thank you. :) No, unfortunately I don't have a map of the full length of the former line out to Dayboro. If I did, and I'm sure it is in at least one gunzel book out there (just unfortunately not on-line so it seems), I would map it and create an article for the line. It is why I have included a bit about the use of the Dayboro line in the Camp Mountain train disaster article – it isn't essential, but it helps introduce the use of the line as a backgrounder (and since I've found out that much about it so far, it may as well go in for safe-keeping for the time being). All I could find using on-line sources is up to about McDowalls and Mount Samson Roads, only a little past where I have mapped in the Camp Mountain train disaster article. If you do source a map of the full line, I would be interested in seeing it and recreating a map of it.  SEO⁷⁵ 00:00, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Ahhh true. Well certainly, I'll send you a copy if I ever find a map of the train line; as from what I've heard it's had an interesting history. I might even know of a few places where to find a map as I used to live in Dayboro. RE your recent revert on Brisbane, where the map image is replaced, seems to be the work of a user that frequently uploads QLD related material of dubious copyright status and embeds it into articles. I suggest watching the IP/user closely, if you are around (I seldom am nowadays) and open a dialogue with the user if you see it happening more and feel up to it. QR Map on Commons

I think that the image you designed at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Citytrain-railway-network-map.png is a fantastic resource, but it appears that Nundah station (between Northgate and Toombul in the orange section) is mislabelled as "Nudgee". The real Nudgee station is correctly labelled though.

Citytrain Map Data

Your rail maps are fantastic. I'm a bit of a maping fanatic myself but I've never been able to source any accurate map data for QR networks online. Is there any chance you'd be willing to share which resources you used to gather the data for your maps? CameronOwen (talk) 01:54, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. The Citytrain network map was intricately hand-drawn in CorelDRAW (yes, the entire South East Queensland coastline into northern New South Wales) using on-line mapping resources. Individual line maps are cropped versions of the network map. QR's Network Access has a number of maps for third party access applicants showing the network, however from what I recall not much of it was in an ideal to-scale format to use as a really accurate resource. Shall we move the page to "Caboolture Railway Station Moreton Regional Shire"?

One of the glaring errors I've noted on the "Caboolture railway station, Brisbane" page is that Caboolture Railway Station is in the Moreton Regional Shire, not Brisbane. One has to travel through the entire (former) Pine Rivers Shire to get from Brisbane to Caboolture by both road and rail.

Perhaps renameing the page

Caboolture Railway Station or Caboolture Railway Station North Coast Line or Caboolture Railway Station Moreton Regional Shire or Caboolture Railway Station QR and Busway Network

would be more appropriate.

No. "Brisbane" is meant as the greater Brisbane area, which Caboolture is regarded as falling within (and "Caboolture Shire" no longer exists).  SEO⁷⁵ 10:17, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

I stand corrected - I'd forgotten about the "Moreton Amalgamation" (as if we could forget) 8^D I anycase, when I ammended the page to read Brisbane Citytrain Network that was changed back immediately to read Brisbane by user Arnzy. Given Caboolture is at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, (as well as increasingly becoming a "Satalite" of Brisbane), what would you suggest we rename the page?

Sorry for my delayed response. Once again, I would not suggest we rename the page to anything else. Crime in Brisbane

Man, you need to include truthful articles into the wikipedia pages, and this is just what i did in the Crime in Brisbane Page, various articles come up in the news and this is what we should include. We should do the same as Melbourne and Sydney. Please do not delete my work, it takes time and i do not have time to ague with everyone about this issue. QR Map and Sunshine Coast Line color rebranding

Hiya, it appears TransLink and QR are slowly rebranding the Sunshine Coast line timetables, with the recent Christmas and New Year timetables being rebranded Sky Blue instead of Green (see QR NY timetables), and on the TransLink website it is also showing the Sunshine Coast line in Sky Blue as well. Just want to ask if you want to update the maps to reflect the change of color for the (current) Sunshine Coast line, cheers. --Arnzy (talk · contribs) 06:03, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

On other words, hold that thought, seems the TransLink website lists it by Region color rather than line color. Although my word stays, re the QR website, the Christmas/NY timetables and branding on the website has changed the Sunshine Coast Line color from green to Sky Blue. --Arnzy (talk · contribs) 06:15, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm, and what a nice choice of colours they are to go together on a map. Bit inconsistent though: The Shorncliffe line timetable is traditional blue, whereas on the Trainslink page a tan; Caboolture is traditional green and... also tan? How would that work? But I see the Sunshine Coast line is a sky blue. However the current map uses traditional colours, and that is as recent as October.
