Apology edit

Sorry, Schweiwikist, I had to edit your posting to the Roger Rabbit talk page. The title should be abbreviated as WFRR without a question mark. The people who created the film went to some trouble to make sure that there would be no question mark. You know how toons are.LestradeLestrade

Hugo Weisgall edit edit

I am puzzled by your edit of The Stronger (opera) (which actually should have been The Stronger). What was the reason for this? Editing red links is unusual. Regards. - Kleinzach 19:29, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for explaining, however while The Stronger (opera) is evidently correct, I think The Stronger (play) should really be The Stronger. Anyway that's up to you as I'm not involved in the latter. Best. - Kleinzach 19:54, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edits to WP:D edit

Yes, I am sorry that we all seemed to be editing right at the same time, it did make for a bit of a confusing mess. As far as I'd seen, I didn't think all of your edits got reverted, just some of the bolding and other stylistic things. Some of your copyediting and rephrasing was quite helpful, and I believe it's all still there. Some of the bolding just made the page a bit too busy. As for the other edits, if you think they are helpful, definitly bring them up on the talk page. In general, if you're going to make more than minor changes, that's the best place to bring them up, so that everyone can agree on them, and not have reverting issues. -- Natalya 18:53, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

TOETAG edit

Why/how is this a useful shortcut? I don't understand how it is clearer than {{db-redirnone}}, which is easily readable also in the deletion log. If you tag a redirect with TOETAG, I have to add an extra reason when deleting. Kusma (討論) 19:34, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, WP:CSD#R1's are pretty obvious even without an explanation. I don't mind your using of your personal shortcut all that much, but I have removed the shortcut tag from the template, because I don't think it should be advertised or used more widely. Redirects to empty pages should always be deleted no matter if they have incoming links or not, so I don't see why an extra tag for those would be useful. wikEd edit

The wikEdlogo

Hi, I have seen that you are using the Cacycle editor extension. This program is no longer actively maintained in favor of its much more powerful successor wikEd.

wikEd has all the functionality of the old editor plus:• syntax highlighting • nifty image buttons • morefixing buttons • paste formatted text from Word or web pages• convert the formatted text into wikicode • adjustthe font size • and much, much more.

Switching to wikEd is easy, check the detailed installation description on its project homepage. Usually it is as simple as changing every occurrence of editor.js into wikEd.js on your User:YourUsername/monobook.js page.

Hi, I think I have fixed the Mac OS X problems, please check User talk:Cacycle/wikEd :-) Cacycle 05:11, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mac OS X edit

Hi Schweiwikist,

I might have found a solution for the wikEd problems under Mac OS X. Please could you do me a big faver and test it. Please click SHIFT-Reload to update, the privacy purge might not work (the version displayed by hovering over the wikEd logo at the top of the page should be 0.9.4).

Thanks in advance, Cacycle 03:54, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey Schweiwikist, thanks for your effort. Coincidentally, the MediaWiki developers had renamed a page element (editpage-copywarn2 to editpage-copywarn2.3B), and that was what has caused the loading error. I have just fixed it.
The multiple 0.9.4 versions do differ only in minor details completely unrelated to the Mac OS X problems. I had to do some online testing, no need for sub-versions in this case. I will continue to increment the last number for every real new submit.
Good to hear that the scrollbar issue is fixed! Are those other related symptons also fixed?
Thanks, Cacycle 14:44, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template:JanuaryCalendar2007Source edit

Hello, I noticed you recently changed the month on this template from "January" to the abbreviated "Jan", as this was messing with the newly created 2007 TFA archive, I've changed it back and am here to inform you that I've done so. Just now, I was creating the 2007 today's featured article archives (Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 2007) and as it turns out, the abbreviation of January in the template was messing with format used for TFA archives, which are, of course, the templates used for the main page. Basically, the main template read January 1, as it should, but because the calendar template was abbreviated Jan, then when you clicked on a day in the calendar (not the templates themselves) it would take you to Wikipedia:Today's featured article/Jan 1, 2007 instead of Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 1, 2007. Now, I'm not sure why you abbreviated January, maybe there was a reason for it, so I've come here to inform you that I changed it back for this purpose (in case there's a reason for changing it to Jan), if there was, then please inform me so that we can work together in figuring out how to fix it, if not then, well, at least reply so I know you got the messahe, lol. Thanks -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 00:00, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Heh, no problem then. I had no idea why you had done it, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't changing something you did for a good reason (perhaps you needed Jan instead of January for a certain page), and that's why I contacted you first. It's all fixed now, and the first 3 months of TFA archives are filled in and ready, so that's good to go. I may do more of them later, but adding the TFAempty template 365 times is tiresome, so I may just keep it this way until February or so then go for the next three after that. Anywho, that is all! -- SmthManly / ManlyTalk / ManlyContribs 07:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:WikEdFormButt.png edit

Thanks for uploading Image:WikEdFormButt.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:13, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Redirects List of African athletes edit

Hello, apparently you have made many redirects from African athletes to List of African athletes. Those were formerly red links, but appear now as blue ones. I dont see it useful at all, instead a bit irritating. Red links are more useful, as they instantly tell non-existence of the article. Julius Sahara 19:21, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank for creating a list of the athletes in question. I'm not going to delete those redirects (and even can't since I'm not an admin). Some of them were already on my to do-list, so preferably I'll upgrade all of them into specific articles some day Julius Sahara 20:32, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Redirects that aren't useful edit

The other day, I was creating an article about a song, and got cut off because I ran out of time (I use public-access computers, with strict time limits enforced by software!) I had created several redirects to that page because the references from many pages were to slightly different forms uf the title. Apparently, you came along, redirected the missing article to a totally unreasonable place, and then decided (to avoid double redirects) to send the other redirects to that same unreasonable place. Please don't do that sort of thing again. I create a lot of articles on songs, and there are a lot of variants of song titles, so I make redirects so the references will all go to the same place. If I don't get quite finished when I run out of time, they will end up as articles to a nonexistent article. If you just wait a day or two, that will be cleared up! Sending each of those redirects to some other article, which isn't even an appropriate place for the redirect to go, just so you avoid redirects to nonexistent articles, only makes more work for me and does nothing to help Wikipedia users who get redirected to someplace that does not give them any useful information. If you want to to something useful in such a situation, just send me a message to remind me to create the article! -- BRG 15:20, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

60 minutes edit

Did you watch 60 minutes tonight? I just noticed you made the entry for Jay Greenberg on the blue jay page.

Admin-warming gift edit

An early holiday birthday* gift for you has been placed under the tree here, for your review. I'm fascinated with the work that goes into the various calendars, etc. on WP, and used your August into September Current Events cal edit to come up with tomorrow's calendar (Dec 1, they almost match, since September also started on a Friday). It's quite a superb design that I understand you came up with. If this re-fit looks right, just copy and paste. Glad to help in a timely fashion, and see you next month perhaps, if not sooner ;) !

*Just missed Election Day, I see. Best wishes anyway!

 Schweiwikist   (talk)  20:20, 30 November 2006 (updated-corrected) (UTC)

Wonderful! One minor correction though... back in early September, the archive sub-pages were at Portal:Current events/Month year. They have since been moved to just Month year (e.g. November 2006), so that should be corrected. But, overall, I'm glad someone else has been able to decipher the monthly update (see also: Portal:Current events/How to archive the portal). -- tariqabjotu 22:23, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
