WritersUA entry deletion edit

Hi, I am interested in discussing the deletion of our organization. Your name was one of the ones listed as part of the discussion. Our organization is part of the technical writing community and provides a unique and valuable service that transcends the for-profit elements of our business. Our web site is highly regarded within our community and we can provide references from numerous notable people within our profession. In addition to original content we offer industry surveys on skills and salaries and provide a resource directory that is much valued by our constituency. All of that is free to the public and provided without vendor advertising. Our single for-profit event is a conference that has been held for fifteen years. In that time it has attracted over 8000 people from around the world and is one of the very few gathering of people specifically interested in improving software documentation. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you at your convenience. Thank you, Joe Welinske President, WritersUA Resource Directory: http://www.writersua.com/resource.htm 2007 Salary Survey: http://www.writersua.com/surveys/salary07/index.html 2007 Skills Survey: http://www.writersua.com/surveys/skillstech06/index.html

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Elonka 2 edit

Thank you for taking the time to participate at the discussion in my Request for Adminship. Unfortunately the nomination did not succeed, but please rest assured that I am still in full support of the Wikipedia project. I listened carefully to all concerns, and will do my best to incorporate all of the constructive advice that I received, into my future actions on Wikipedia. If you can think of any other ways that I can further improve, please let me know. Best wishes, Elonka 04:16, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia - Queensland Rail edit

Hallo! You undid my revision of Wikipedia articel of Queensland Rail, History. It is a fact that QR was not the first 1067 mm railroad and not the first mainline of 1067 mm. QR is one of the first, but not the first. The gauge 1067 mm was invented i Norway by C A Piehl and the first line was started to build 1861. And QR started 1865.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.229.134.50 (talk) 09:14, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Maybe provide a reference for it per Wikipedia's verfiability rules and I'll let it stay. --Arnzy (talk · contribs) 12:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well.... can you verifed that QR is the first 1067 mm guage railroad?? I´m not intrested to have notice of railroad in Norway in a articel of QR, but I react of "trouths" that is false!

with regards

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sunbus Logo.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Sunbus Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:24, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blocked forever? edit

This blocked-forever thing is news to me. The block was enacted by Netsnipe, who I know from the real world and appears to have happened without any sort of discussion. At this point, really, I couldn't care less. I just want my name out of this encyclopaedia. TransitPolice 07:55, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sydney Explorer edit

I don't know why the article was reinstated. I had it deleted after having it prodded for five day and now the article has re appeared with incorrect refferences. I wrote the article with the sole purpose of advertising the Sydney explorer becuase I worked for an office in Sydney that sold the tickets for that service. Now that I have learnt more about Wikipedia and their policies, I now realise that that was a mistake. So I dont know why the article was reinstated. Citytrain line maps edit

Hmmm, what else is there to do at 2am than update line maps? :) I see you've taken my line mapping 'test' from the Shorncliffe line and and run with it on Caboolture. I've fixed the Wamuran swing from left to right, and made CAB a bigger dot/station with continuation to the NCL. I'll have to revert your edit to the Doomben line map, as, yes, whilst passengers change to/from Sunshine Coast services at Bowen Hills and I've included that in the text, on the map it looks like the Ferny Grove line continues to the Sunshine Coast.

So, if it looks like my 'test' works (making the change and awaiting comments (or in this case further implemented)), shall we split the load so to avoid working on the same lines at the same time? I started on two easier lines before working on the biggies (but shall be going to bed in a few minutes).  SEO75 [talk] 16:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

No worries. Depending on what time I wake up tomor... errr, today, before I have to go to work, I might bag the Ferny Grove, Ipswich, Rosewood and Exhibition lines, and maybe the Maroochydore once you've done the Sunshine Coast (nothing like copying and pasting to save time). Probably won't be all done tomorrow (takes a lot longer than one might expect), but certainly before the end of the weekend.  SEO75 [talk] 16:25, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Citytrain template edit

I've asked Matt ke what the issue seems to be with the header of the Template:Citytrain Station. Does it work okay for you; do you see any problems with it?  SEO75 [talk] 20:13, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

It sounded like Matt ke had increased the Text size in his browser(s), so I have implemented a different size unit as well as some other tweaks, which will hopefully be a fix for his viewing experience. Could you be so kind as to cast your eye on the template and let me know how it looks for you (hopefully before it is potentially swiftly undone if it isn't successful)? TIA.  SEO75 [talk] 23:25, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jetstar/Jetstar Asia edit

Just a query. Jetstar Asia Airways is 49% owned by Qantas, so I thought it deserves to be under Qantas. This is similar to Thai AirAsia and Indonesia AirAsia which is 49% owned by AirAsia. What ways to justify Jetstar Asia Airways to be on it's own? --Zack2007 (talk) 16:12, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Timezone logo.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Timezone logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:38, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Brisbane edit

Just a reminder that WikiProject Brisbane needs your help. There have been a number of changes to the project page over recent days and I hope you could spare some time to take a look, be bold and add some touches yourself.

There is plenty that needs to be done to get more Brisbane articles up to FA standard. Please come and discuss this and lets see if we can build up this project.

Greater Brisbane Area edit

Oy can you please leave the Greater Brisbane Area Page alone, it is getting quite annoying. I think every Australian city should have a Metropolitan Area Page, similar to other cities around the world. With just the city page, many do not understand what cities and towns are integrated within the Metro Brisbane area Thank-You, Tasos90 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tasos90 (talkcontribs) 00:03, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I dont see the point of getting a new page which duplicates information from the existing Brisbane page, and most has been covered in the Brisbane article, therefore a redirect would be appropriate. --Arnzy (talk · contribs) 02:49, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'd say it should be redirected to South East Queensland, a far more common descriptor for the areas 'in and around Brisbane'; work should be put into that existing article rarther than creating a new one with, as Arnzy says, duplicated information but with a slightly wider context.  SEO75 [talk] 23:19, 3 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Sunshineplaza.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Sunshineplaza.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rossrs (talk) 14:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Brisbane edit

Hi Arnzy,

Please do not slander my edits without evidence and supporting logical arguments to back them up. Can you please explain to me why you feel Brisbane should be different to Sydney and Melbourne? It is the third biggest city behind these two. It is brisbane's right to have it's own image of the city in the front page.

See talk page for further discussion. I look forward to hearing from you with your point of view. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brisbane Man (talkcontribs) 00:53, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please do not place the map regarding Brisbane within Australia, in all cities within Australia, a picture is featured within the infobox and we would like to maintain this trend. The map is shown below the Infobox. See Sydney's Page. Thank-You for your understanding —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.185.185.173 (talk) 22:03, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Maroochy.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Maroochy.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Brisbane Page and Montage edit

Why can't Brisbane have a montage as an image, the page was much more appealing with the picture, if you like it to look like shit go ahead, i'm just trying to make it better. Why do you think i'm vandalizing the pages, i'm trying to contribute. I thought you wanted people to do that.

Emmalina edit

Please note I am not trying to undelete the page at all. There is no other page to request a userfication. Please don't be slack and let me userfy the page - the information on there was fully sourced and is available in sources (and I don't want the history either).
