Your submission at Articles for creation edit

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Smith Brandon International, Inc.. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> The Book of Chzz, Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> Smith, John. "[http://foonews.com/Article42 Interview with Chzz]", Foo News, 1 April 2010. Retrieved 2011-05-22. </ref>

== References ==

{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1] which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.

Please add references to your submission, which will be reviewed as soon as possible. See also, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you need any help, just put {{helpme}} at the end of this page, followed by a question or get into our live help chat chanel at #wikipedia-en-help connect.

Improved article and removed promotional links edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I worked on the article you proposed for Smith Brandon to bring it into better compliance with our way of doing things. I have a couple of suggestions which you are likely to hear from the AFC reviewers also.

  • The title should not have ", Inc." in it. You can read more about titling articles in the policy page for that.
  • You probably will also need to establish the notability of the business with news or magazine articles about it.
  • Finally, so far the article is about the principals of the company more than the company itself. You would do well to add as much well sourced information about the company's projects, clients, etc.

I removed links you posted for Smith Brandon on various other articles since they appear to be primarily an attempt to promote the company. I understand that as a newcomer to Wikipedia there is a lot to learn but I recommend getting more informed about policy, especially related to using Wikipedia for promotions and preserving neutrality. I don't mean to discourage you but hope you will become better acquainted with our policies and guidelines so your future contributions can stick around a lot longer. Thanks. April 2012 edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Risk and strategic consulting do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jojalozzo 14:57, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to List of risk and strategic consulting firms. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Jojalozzo 15:04, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Private intelligence agency. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please locate recent sources to demonstrate notability. Your campaign to establish SBI on Wikipedia may result in links to the company site being black listed if you persist in posting them without understanding Wikipedia policy on Advertising and conflicts of interest.
