I am a beginner and Want to know how to write an article.

Dear SaveATreeEatAVegan, I am really thankful for your help. As you know I am a very beginner in Wikipedia therefore, I would like you to help me contributing on some of the notable subjects of Pakistan and specifically Sindh Province. In this regard I would try to contribute to some historical places, biographies of living/dead persons, Institutions/organizations, Culture, Biodiversity and etc. I really want to know How to start/write a new article. I feel there are lots of subjects of Pakistan and Sindh Province that have not been contributed yet to Wikipedia because of lack of participation from that area. No problem, Postosoft! I'd be delighted to assist you in starting new articles, and I look forward to seeing those much needed subjects from Pakistan and the Sindh Province. You're right, we definitively need more contributions from that part of the world to help us grow. Why don't you start by reading this article which explains the basics on creating your first article. Also, I'd like to suggest that you make some edits to already created articles, which will help you get a feel of how Wikipedia works. As far as any questions you might have, please feel free to ask me anytime, that's what I'm here for! Republican 2012 Maps

Can you adjust the color tones on the maps to be color-blind compliant? A user has requested this. Message cced on other map editor talk pages.--Metallurgist (talk) 10:02, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate you giving me the heads up on my page. I've adjusted the republican map now for an individual with a red-blue color vision problem. The issue with color-blind compliance, is an individual's deficiency can vary from one person to another. For instance, here is a map on the commons for someone who has a red-green color vision problem. We also have an excellent article here on Wikipedia under Color blindness that even breaks down Color vision deficiencies by cause. Maybe there should be multiple maps? One map would show "by default" for those with normal vision, and users with color vision issues could click a link to one or more alternate versions of the map. The red-yellow-blue map currently being used has some issues, namely that yellow refers to Gingrich on that map, but on most other 2012-primary-cycle maps on Wikipedia gold means Ron Paul, possibly leading to confusion. It'd be better to just decide on one "standard" default set of colors and then give individuals with colorblindness one or more alternatives to choose from. 173.165.239.237 (talk) 04:29, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

I like your idea of multiple maps. I'll have to look into it further and figure out the best way to utilize that idea. I could possibly add 'mini-links' right underneath the map, that way user's would be able to 'click' on a multiple 'range' of color schematics. Hopefully this would ensure that a broader range of users would be able to view whatever map best fits their color vision deficiency. SaveATreeEatAVegan 04:43, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Yellow denotes a state won by Newt Gingrich.
Blue denotes a state won by Rick Santorum.
Grey denotes a state that has not yet voted.
Note that not all states are "winner-take-all."

The user who asked is red-green colorblind, which is the most common iirc. I think if you simply adjust the shades to be different (check it with grayscale), then its good to go for everyone, color blind or not, and all types of colorblind. Its a common oversight tho. If you arent color blind, why would you even think of it! I actually am slightly color blind myself. I have trouble with some Ishihara tests, but it has no effect on my function other than that. You could also check with the other mapmakers what to do, but Im pretty sure that just modding the shades will work fine.--Metallurgist (talk) 06:41, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
