my advocacy for Mahawiki edit

Hello Sarvagnya,

I hope all is well. I have responded to your message on my Talk page. Best,--Amerique 23:54, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think that it would be in your best interests of getting a good article to not perjoratively debate using terms like "summarily trashed" and using CAPS and also ordering perople around like "Get that straight". Thanks, Blnguyen | BLabberiNg 03:10, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vande mataram edit

Urdu translation was included because it was written by Mr. Arif mohammed khan and very relevant to that particular section. So pls dont removed the reference as well as the translation. Bharatveer 09:08, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Bharatveer 09:09, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for promptly fixing Bangalore edit

Thanks for the prompt rv on the Bangalore page. That was an excellent job! Take care. --Antorjal 20:15, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've added some additional comments to the notice board. To summarize, I don't think it matters if the national anthem is in Hindi or in Bengali masquerading as Hindi, I don't see any added benefit from adding translations in native scripts to articles in the English Wikipedia and per your suggestion, I think we should do away with them. Hope this helps AreJay

Infoboxes for districts edit

Good job!!. we just need to get the pertinent information in now, including a district map. All districts should preferably have same format. Any Ideas where to get the info from?

Dinesh Kannambadi

Info is easy to get but is a little scattered. For starters, some districts have their websites. You can fine them here. Most info should be available there. Population figures are available here. In a hurry now. District maps can be found by googling or on those district websites. But I dont know if we can use them. Never used an image from anywhere. So dont know about copyright etc. More later. gtg. Sarvagnya 14:52, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Talk:INCOTW edit

Hello. I noticed that you started new sections on Vande Mataram and other songs on the above mentioned talk page. Were you intending the comments to be places there? That talk page is only for the collaboration of the week. For topics like this, WT:INWNB would be of better use. I have moved the discussion there. - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 16:47, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxes edit

Sarvagnya — good job on the infoboxes for the districts. I was initially intending to work on improving the content of all Karnataka districts, but have been unable to do so due to other committments. The only district that I feel I was able to significantly contribute to was Bagalkot and it was my intention to model other Karnataka districts' content on this. Also, I've had a chance to create taluk-level vector maps for all districts (along the lines of the map in the Bagalkot article), but again, have not been able to upload them as of yet. Just wanted to thank you for your effort and wanted to let you know that I will be involving myself with the improvement of these articles just as soon as I can find some time. Thanks AreJay 23:48, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I typically create vectors using Adobe Photoshop. I just realized the other day that all the vector maps I created got wiped out because my laptop crashed. However, the good news is that it won't take me too long to recreate the maps. As far as your other question, I haven't contributed much to the Chennai page recently, but my understanding is that all population figures for 2006 are estimates taken from World Gazetter. I think the website also gives you estimates for towns and districts in each state. Thanks AreJay 13:17, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dear Sarvagnya edit

Looks like the Mahawiki goon has started to vandalise my 1 years worth of work on "Rashtrakuta" calling it pro Kannada. We need to come together and teach him a lesson. hope you find time, Dinesh Kannambadi

Calm talk edit

Please try to remian calm and stay on topic as to what is appropriate info for articles. That way your chances of getting a favourable content resolution increases. And please don't call opposing edits as "vandalism". That is a form of personal attack, I am aware that Mahawiki does have a very aggressive mindset, but please refrain from responding in ways not relevant to article content, thanks, Blnguyen | BLabberiNg 01:15, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

No apologies required edit

I made the same mistake yesterday with Portal:India! - Aksi_great (talk) 19:11, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Autogenerate? If you mean the text of the summary, then no - there is no way to do that. You could just copy the lead and make a few changes to it. Also check summaries at Portal:India. I copied the summaries for the initial 4 Gujarat SAs from there. - Aksi_great (talk) 19:24, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stop your folly and issuing warnings for no reasons edit

Stop issuing warnings for no reasons.I dont even want to talk to u,let alone personal attacks.I know ur disturbed by discussions on Belgaon page.Stop taking it personally and dont come to my talk page ever.U r ignored. Please do not make personal attacks on other people. Wikipedia has a policy against personal attacks. In some cases, users who engage in personal attacks may be blocked from editing by administrators or banned by the arbitration committee. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Please resolve disputes appropriately. Thank you. mahawiki 19:31, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sarvagnya, its enough now. When did I have personal attacks with u today? Are u OK?I didnt even READ ur comments on Rashtrakuta, forget about replies.I replied to Dinesh, not u so when did I have personal attacks on u?Why did u give me warnings?Stop this yarr. Its enough now.Just like ur badmouthing me here, did I issue any warnings?I dont want to talk to u,let alone personal attacks.Stop behaving like a child.I have even stopped editing at Rashtrakuta and busy editing other articles of my concern. This is my last warning to u.U r purposely creating a scene.Let me again tell u stop taking revenge of Belgaon issue.Make that very clear-U dont deserve my attention and bandwidth let alone personal attacks!mahawiki 20:10, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sarvagnya. Please take the courtesy to voice your concerns by writing a short personal message pointing out the issues. MEchanical warnings are considered to be unfavourable unless it is used for vandals, not established contributors. Definitely there is a problem, which I have poiinted out to him. There does seem to be a vast majority of text on discussion pages which are off-topic rhetoric. The posts on the talk page shows that everybody is speculating too much about each other's personal attitudes to regional bias in India, rather than what is correct info. I think perhaps if people can put down a simple statement about what parts of the article are misleading or unbalanced I can have a look, but if people continue to have 75% innuendo and speculation on regional bias/aggro, blaming who did what edits, etc and ascribing motives then a mediator can never see what the content issue unless they sit on a computer 16 hours a day with nothing else to do but try and decipher something which is not clearly stated but is mixed into rambling innuendo personal complaints. Thanks, Blnguyen | BLabberiNg 03:13, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!! edit

Thanks for your vigilance. If we have to portray history as accurately as possible, we need to be fully aware of facts (from scholarly research ofcourse) and learn to deal with die-hard people who only want to put forward their egos and fight no end . I dont think we have seen the last of this unfortunately as this bitterness is bound to surface elsewhere. Good luck!!

My Thoughts edit

I have put together a few additional lines into your link file [1]. Looks fine and will sure be a big job. From my side over a period of time, contributions to Wildlife and History is for sure. I have already started to put in info/pictures into pages for various Wildlife Sanctuaries in South Karnataka and I plan to travel to north Karnataka over the coming years (Dandeli, Anshi, Rennebennur etc). I am also going to create seperate pages for Chalukya architecture (seperate pages for early/later Chalukyas), Rashtrakutas, Vijayanagara etc. I have already done so for Hoysala architecture, focussing more on elements of architecture. All this will ofcourse take a couple of years. Another intersting item that could be considered (though hard to achieve) will be pages for Kannada coinage and inscriptions, somewhere hyperlinked inside empires/kingdoms/language page. I have started on this also by photographing Hoysala inscriptions ("Kannada" page). The idea will be to if possible portray the progression of Kannada characters and prove its antiquity. For someone who likes to travel to ancient temples, this should not be too difficult. For instance, Kappe Arabhatta's poerty on stone in Badami(700C.E). I have seen a photo online taken by some Indian tourists but I dont think we should/can just copy it. I will try to contact them and see if they want to upload it into Chalukya/Kannada page. I have identified some 15 books, spanning topics of History/language that I shall order, read and input from, though as one may guess, all this will take some time. Plz discuss all those contoversial matters on those respective talk pages, dont write those things on my page. Secondly lets get citation savvy.Any changes in Belgaon article should be supported by a citation.Thanks. mahawiki 06:09, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

To remind u again, plz discuss this things on talk page,I dont appreciate such messages on my talk pages.Plz find some citations to add 'that' information.Lastly, dont talk anything personal in ur responses.Plz try to remain civil and respect others opinion too.Thanks.mahawiki 06:28, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I just reverted because apart from adding Wadekar, I added some NPOV clarifactions to the cricketers which you reverted. I simpmly objected to your deletion of the descriptions of Indian captains and their records. Thanks, Blnguyen | BLabberiNg 08:41, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Behaviour edit

Please lighten your tone in discussions with other Wikipedians, especially your frequent use of the word "damn". I realise that it may be frustruating to argue with users who hold different opinions, but civility is very important to keep in mind. I have also talked to Mahawiki about his behaviour, and I hope things can be settled between the two of you. Thank you. Mar de Sin Talk to me! 19:55, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

When users have conflicts, all are held responsible for their actions. If there is someone who is more aggressive, that person is not the only one at fault. And as for the use of the word "damn", I have noticed that you used it two times in two days, once on Mahawiki's and another on Haphar's talk page. I have also noticed that you talk about Mahawiki on other user's talk pages in an uncivil manner that can be considered very offensive. No matter how bad you think he is, insulting his edits is not justice for being mean. I'd suggest that you should try to debate in a more polite way. This will get you a long way in Wikipedia, as being kind to those who are unkind to you can do you a lot here and elsewhere. Mar de Sin Talk to me! 01:07, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

KarNaatik and karnaatik edit

Hello Sarvagnya. With reference to your edit to Carnatic music, the combination "ಕರ್ನ" almost never occurs in Sanskrit. In names where modern Indian languages use "ಕರ್ನ", Sanskrit almost always has "ಕರ್ಣ". As a result, both the name of the region "Karnataka" and "Carnatic music" are written "ಕಣಾ೯ಟಕ" in Sanskrit. Take a look, for example, at the way "Karnataka" is written on page 257 of Monier-Williams dictionary (it is near the top of the third column). If this explanation answers your query, would you remove the fact tag you inserted? -- Arvind 19:56, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kannadi/ga edit

I see. Well, thanks for the reply. To me, it just seems like a lame argument and a distraction from editing. "Karnatakan" would be the intuitive English term for inhabitants of Karnataka. If this is actually becoming some sort of POV dispute, you could consider using that.

Another question: is Mahawiki actually inserting "Kannadi" into articles, or just using it on talk pages? If it's merely the latter, would it be possible to just ignore him? If he's just doing it just to provoke a reaction, then ignoring him will probably take the fun out of it and get him to stop. And if not, well, some people are just stubborn. --tjstrf 20:40, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj edit

Hi, I read about ur comments on Shivaji Maharaj on my talk page.I dont think ur name calling will in any ways defame him.I would request u to develop article on that Kannadi queen u talk about rather than insulting others.Remember if u think 'Chatripati' is COOOL we might also think that Chinama is HOTTT! I request u to stop ur nasty comments and for god's sake dont come to my talk page ever! Thanks. mahawiki 04:27, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sarvganya you are not helping matters by jumping in and using such language. I would request you to refrain from using provocative language and terms. Let's get things on a civil note before carrying on.One request to you is not to respond as of now. Haphar 14:15, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do Not Remove Messages From Talk Pages edit

Hi there, you must be knowing that removing messages from talk pages (if they are not obscene/vandalism) is a violation of Wikipedia's policies. Be a little more alert from next time.

Blocking Tipu edit

I got your message: [2], and am aware of the links you had provided. However, I have warned him to be careful with his language, his choice of words was rather poor. Let us give him a chance to reply. Blocking does not serve the intended purspose always: a person can come back with a diffierent name, and continue to waste resources. Let him reply and give him a chance to reform. In case, he repeats or does not reply, the optioon of blocking is always open. --Bhadani 17:24, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removal of speedy tag from Image talk:Kaveri river at Tiruchirapalli.jpg edit

Hi there. I saw you removed the speedy delete tag from Image talk:Kaveri river at Tiruchirapalli.jpg, saying I dont understand this. The user Sundar who has commented above is an admin himself. Please talk to him before you tag it or delete it. Thanks. Let me explain to you what I am guessing is what happened. The image you tried to go to the talk page on is actually an image on MediaWiki, not Wikipedia. You incorrectly created a talk page for this image on Wikipedia, so the talk page is showing up as not having an image associated with it. Such pages are speedy deletable, which is why I tagged it as so. Please be careful to make comments on the talk page at MediaWiki next time, instead of accidentally creating a talk page on wikipedia for MediaWiki images. If you wish your comments to be saved feel free to transfer it, but I am going to re-tag that page for speedy deletion shortly. VegaDark 21:22, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
