TV episodes edit

Hi Sandtiger, thanks for leaving that note on my talk page. Sufficient evidence for the Will & Grace episodes' notability has been provided that I have withdrawn the nomination, and I'm glad to see that the Naruto episode article was redirected away by you today.

I'll just respond to some of the points that you raised anyway.

  • WP:N may "only" be a guideline, but both articles at the time also failed WP:CITE, and, indirectly perhaps, WP:V. Sure, they may only be guidelines, but articles that fail one or both of them are usually fair game for an AfD. If the result of the AfD is that a non-verifiable article on a non-notable subject gets deleted, I consider that to be a positive outcome. If the result is that the article is merged into a more useful one, or that additional sources and notability are asserted, then that is also a good outcome! I would say that both articles are now in a better state than they were before I came along.
  • I'm well aware that there are occasional exceptions allowed to all rules, but in this case I was not convinced that either article warranted having an exception made for it.
  • WP:EPISODE is irrelevant to the question of notability, because it does not touch on what is a notable TV episode or what isn't. Guidelines do not override each other, and the notability criterion of "A topic is notable if it has been the subject of non-trivial coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." applies to all articles. Just as not every song by a notable band is worthy of its own article, neither is every episode of a notable TV programme important enough to have its own article.
  • I do confess I picked some somewhat soft targets that would have reinforced systematic bias, but can you imagine what would have happened if I'd nominated an episode of Star Trek for deletion? =)

I share your hope that we can both work together in the future. We seem to have a common goal of reducing the amount of TV-cruft in Wikipedia, so I'm sure that there's room for us to cooperate in the future.

Best wishes,

WikiProject: CSI franchise edit

Sandtiger, I've seen you work organising episodes of CSI Vegas; I need similar help on Miami and NY (see project page for details). WP:CSI is still only in its nascent stages - it's just me at the moment, and I only set it up today - and I need as much help as I can get, as my wiki markup knowledge leaves a lot to be desired. Post back on my talk page or on the project page if you're interested. Editus Reloaded 16:26, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:NarutoDVDSeason1.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:NarutoDVDSeason1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:48, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just wondering edit

I've seen how you nicely put up that Naruto portal and was thinking if you'd like to help WP:DBZ set up the portal for Dragon Ball. It's still under construction, I'm considering a FAQ box, could be interesting. If you really don't want to assist or if you don't know much about Dragon Ball I can totally understand. If you have any tips that may be useful leave a note at the talk page or let me know. Cheers, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 06:43, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:CSI DVD2.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:CSI DVD2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:09, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
