Proposed deletion of Matiur Rahman (army officer) edit

The article Matiur Rahman (army officer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability. 1E BIO, Should be redirected to main topic.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  // Timothy :: talk  12:11, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Anarchism edit

Hi Sallyboy's Knowledge,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 01:20, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Salman Muqtadir.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Salman Muqtadir.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 18:22, 27 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

John D. Boswell moved to draftspace edit

It needs more in-depth coverage with citations from reliable and independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. I've moved your article to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's WP:GNG guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Fruit Town Piru edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fruit Town Piru requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 2A00:23EE:1118:6445:1C7F:E9FF:FEBF:D65C (talk) 05:29, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Wardell Fouse in Unsolved.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Wardell Fouse in Unsolved.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:08, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable non-free use File:Dana McKeon.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dana McKeon.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.

Thank you. — Ирука13 19:08, 4 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Doaa Rouqa moved to draftspace edit

Thanks for your contributions to Doaa Rouqa. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because Sources that address her as the subject only do so in passing. This may change the more the conflict goes on but at present she lacks WP:SIGCOV. She reports the news, not is the news. . I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. TarnishedPathtalk 10:54, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Anti-Americanism among African-Americans edit

Hi! I moved Anti-Americanism among African-Americans to Draft:Anti-Americanism among African-Americans because it doesn't seem ready for mainspace. I think the topic might have potential but you have to pay attention to WP:original research, WP:Synthesis and WP:NPOV when you're writing it. Happy editing! BuySomeApples (talk) 04:52, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey there! I've published several articles on contentious topics (which I've been able to write from a neutral perspective) - this article contains no original research, as I simply reiterate the ideas of these African-American organisations and activists (I include page numbers and relevant quotes) Sallyboy's Knowledge (talk) 07:27, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Original research can mean using WP:Primary sources, like documents published by the RAM or links to spotify, instead of secondary sources. The best way to improve the article would be to find reliable academic sources that talk about anti-Americanism in African American movements instead of sources that you think are examples of anti-Americanism. If you look at the anti-Americanism article, you'll see a lot of books about anti-Americanism as a viewpoint and studied phenomenon, those are the types of sources you should look for. BuySomeApples (talk) 07:38, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi! I've removed all the primary sources and added more secondary sources (including a study). I believe the article is written from a neutral perspective (I'm not encouraging nor criticizing anti-Americanism among African-Americans: I am merely reiterating the core beliefs of these organisations - I've removed the documents published by the organisations and found secondary sources about the organisations). Thanks :) Sallyboy's Knowledge (talk) 00:10, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You need to, at the minimum, retitle this draft article. It's not about "Anti-Americanism among African Americans" but "Anti-Americanism among fringe African-American organizations". There is nothing in this article that attributes this philosophy and politics to "African Americans" as a group of the population. You're highlight a few outspoken people that don't reflect the attitudes of millions of people. Liz Read! Talk! 01:32, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey Liz! I've included a 2022 survey by YouGov, in which approximately 20% of African-American respondents rejected patriotism towards the USA - hence, I believe the title is appropriate, as 1 in 5 African Americans oppose American patriotism. Furthermore, the Black Panther Party wasn't a fringe organisation - during the 1960s, it was so popular among African-Americans that the FBI labelled the BPP as the "greatest threat to the internal security of the country". In the studies and books I've cited, the BPP is noted for its anti-American rhetoric (which had the support of many African-Americans). Let me know what you think :) Sallyboy's Knowledge (talk) 02:01, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have sent you a note about a page you started edit

Hello, Sallyboy's Knowledge. Thank you for your work on Generation Z and the Israel–Hamas war. TechnoSquirrel69, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

I appreciate the intent behind this article's creation, but I have several concerns with its content. I'm still not convinced on whether this is a notable subject for an article, and seems like an unencyclopedic cross-categorization between the topic of Generation Z and the topic of the Israel–Hamas war. The statistics are also problematic, and the fact that the statistics about a particular demographic have been picked out in exclusion of the other data in the reports/surveys seems like original research.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|TechnoSquirrel69}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 06:48, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey there! I appreciate your feedback. I (and other editors) have gone through all of the major surveys on this topic. We didn't cherrypick any of the results, it's just that all of the major studies indicate that Gen Z is typically pro-Palestine. Furthermore, many reputable newspapers used the same studies which the Wikipedia article used.
There is a page about Black-Palestinian solidarity, as African-American groups were found to be particularly supportive of Palestine, relative to other ethnic groups in the US. The same way, since Gen Z is radically more pro-Palestine than other generations, and this has resulted in several TikTok trends (such as converting to Islam), and the fact that scholars have researched this phenomenon of Gen Z being so pro-Palestine, I believe it is noteworthy. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Generation Z and the Israel–Hamas war.
