I know this is a bit late but it was more likely to have been Stylonychia particularly if the cilia (cirri) at one end were rather stiff enabling it to move along surfaces with a rapid walking movement. Regards  Velella  ^{Velella Talk}   09:29, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

This edit summary indicates the misunderstanding. You are confusing "historical" with "it's all in the past". You either didn't read or didn't grasp what the article historical region says: "The fundamental principle underlying this view is that older political and mental structures exist which exercise greater influence on the spatial-social identity of individuals than is understood by the contemporary world, bound to and often blinded by its own worldview - e.g. the focus on the nation-state". Speedy deletion nomination of Mels (name)

Man, I've been on Wikipedia for a long time. ANd please, geographical entities don't need no further references. The sheer existence makes it ready for an article. That was like when I created the article for the Uzbek postal service. - The sheer membership in UPU makes it noteworthy. Thanks for noting this and removing the tag.
