Logos and copyrights edit

Your new, larger logo for the California Storm was deleted from Wikimedia Commons because, despite your claim to the contrary, it was a copyright violation. Sports team logos are copyrighted, and are not allowed to be loaded to Commons, which operates under international copyright law. Wikipedia, which operates under US copyright law, allows reduced resolution logos to be used as part of the US concept of "fair use". The file that exists here on the Wikipedia servers is fine, but the larger, full-resolution image that you loaded to Commons is not. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:40, 31 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

You apparently mis-tagged the file when you uploaded it here to Wikipedia, because it was again uploaded to Commons, where it is inappopriate and has again been tagged for deletion (by me). I think the cross-wiki upload is an automatic process that is blocked if you properly place the {{non-free logo}} template. This template needs to go no in the File Description section, but in the licensing section of the File page. For an example, see File:New York Mets.svg. Understandable. They're in place to protect Wikipedia which is a valuable resource. @WikiDan61: SacSoccer123 (talk) 21:56, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:California Storm Logo 2023.png edit

A tag has been placed on File:California Storm Logo 2023.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 07:07, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
