COI notice

edit

Hello, SFnativeAKM. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AngusWđŸ¶đŸ¶F (bark ‱ sniff) 23:25, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your message. I am not being paid for this work. This is part of a volunteer Wikipedia edit-a-thon. All participants of the edit-a-thon receive the same list of artist names to work on. I am working from a list that everyone has. SFnativeAKM (talk) 23:59, 6 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Marlana Thompson, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

The article has been assessed as Start-Class, which is recorded on its talk page. Most new articles start out as Stub-Class or Start-Class and then attain higher grades as they develop over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

If you would like to help us improve this process, please consider leaving us some feedback.

Thanks again, and happy editing!

So has Vicki Lee Soboleff. If these get marked for deletion, please feel free to let us know at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red. --Tagishsimon (talk) 18:09, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, thank you!! I really appreciate the help. SFnativeAKM (talk) 18:15, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Should mention that you have had the very worst 'welcome to wikipedia' experience I've seen in a while; two very good articles declined at AfC, and a bogus COI notice. It shouldn't happen, but it does. I have taken a couple of the editors involved to task, elsewhere. WP needs editors like you, working on the sorts of articles you've started with. Illegitimi non carborundum. --Tagishsimon (talk) 21:46, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would just like to echo what Carolina-parakeet-42 and Tagishsimon said, sorry that this happened. If I can help you, I write a lot of articles on Native women and many of those have been artists, please feel free to jump on my talk page or ping me. I may not be able to help, but I have networks of people who probably can. SusunW (talk) 22:50, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your help and for working on these articles. It does make me hesitant about starting new articles. I posted something about this on Facebook, and women responded that they have had horrible experiences on Wikipedia. SFnativeAKM (talk) 03:52, 16 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Best advice I can give you is if you enjoy it, keep editing. Find a network of people to collaborate with and learn from. It isn't an easy platform, but there are corners of it like Women in Red and some of the other projects that are very supportive and will help you learn the ropes. My first 6 months on here were awful, but I luckily found some good mentors and then about a year later Women in Red came along. Been editing about 9 years now, and for the most part I am able to avoid the drama pretty easily. SusunW (talk) 04:27, 16 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
