Fontainebleau, Florida

Blood Meridian

I would like to suggest that you revert Blood Meridian to your "missing period" edit. Everything from there was egregiously pernicious to the article. One example is reverting to a problematic plot summary and then tagging it as a problematic plot summary. Untitled50reg (talk) 18:10, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

Ramon Mercader

• Order of Lenin, the Gold Star of the Hero and the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, 1960

Joseph Hansen wrote that there were rumors only that any of these awards had been given to Mercader in absentia in 1940s. Though Ramon Mercader could be freed in 1953 Jaques Mornard and the Soviet government refused to recognize him as Ramon Mercader and this, in Hansen's opinion, was the main obstacle to free him in 1953 in 7 years before the end of the term and not in 4 months. Ramon Mercader had other orders and medals to display that he was the participant of the WWII on the Soviet side and was not serving any terms in Mexican prisons. But he had only one order of Lenin. The sister of Ramon Montserrat initially was the wife of the leader of the International bridages of Spain, opposing Mussolini. She was to use the documents of her cousin to live in Italy. Please see the biography of her son in Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Unusual articles

Hey! I noticed you removed my edits relating to rapper Eminem on Wikipedia:Unusual Articles in the section relating to "Gerbilling".

While I completely understand why you did this, I believe you may have missed the humorous remark I was attempting to make.

You see, on Eminem's 2005 song "FACK", he talks extensively about a sexual encounter involving a gerbil.

Since then, the song has become sort of an in-joke among Eminem fans due to its absurd nature and humourousness.

While reading this article, I noticed that a lot of the descriptions contained humourous jokes/references.

So when I made this edit, I was hoping that some fellow fans of Eminem like myself might notice the reference and appreciate it, and find it humourous.

I do agree that I should have summarized this in the edit though.

I hope you understand and will allow me to make this edit.

Taweetham, I think it's meant to be the reaction of someone who mistook the building for a giant robot on first sight. Hence the description: That's not a giant robot looming in Bangkok.

I don't think it's very clever or funny, but since all the other captions in this and related articles are humorous or offbeat, I didn't think it should be changed to something that is merely descriptive. Rublov (talk) 10:13, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for taking that tag off ... I was planning to do it myself at some point since the IP in question never responded to my request for specifics, but having done most of the work developing the article I didn't want to seem like I was exercising ownership. Having someone else see that nothing in the article really justified that tag is appreciated.

I suspect the tagger was the same one who made the edit I had reverted just before it in the edit history. It's the only edit by that editor, searching for that username reveals someone else who says they live in that general area, and the IP resolves to Vestal, just on the edge of Tioga County. And I suspect their real issue was that I had reverted their edit (for very good reasons) and didn't know any better way of following up. Daniel Case (talk) 22:28, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Synoman Barris, thank you for reverting the move. I think Republic of Afghanistan (1973—1978) should be moved to Republic of Afghanistan (disambiguation), which is where it was before. Also, the same user "fixed" a bunch of links to point to the new targets... is there a better way to undo all these changes, besides reverting them manually? Thanks for your copy edit of Survivor: The Australian Outback for the GOCE's February Blitz. I have a few notes, mostly MOS stuff, since this copy edit request was going for GAN. These are fairly minor points, please receive them constructively.

• it was originally shown between January 28, to May 23, 2001. ... in northern Queensland from October 23, 2000, through December 3, 2000. Be mindful of date formats and numeric ranges. From-through works (from-to is more common) but between-to doesn't. Between works best with and. Also, you don't need the comma after 'January 28' and in the second range since both years are in 2000, you can omit the first 2000 as assumed. See MOS:DATERANGE for more examples.
• took place from October 23, 2000, through December 3, 2000 at Goshen need a comma after the second 2000. (MOS:DATECOMMA) Could optionally remove the first 2000 (and commas).
• on January 28, 2001 to 43.5 million viewers need a comma after 2001.
• to have more than standard 39 days of gameplay. remove 'standard' or replace with 'the standard'.
• The last remaining player is awarded a prize of $1,000,000. Because this is an American show set and filmed in Australia, there may be some confusion about whether this is American or Australian dollars. Consider using US$1,000,000. (first occurrence only)
• The final seven eliminated contestants made up the jury Since this is going to GA, I would change made up → comprised, which is more formal.
• Jerri and Mitchell both received a vote at Tribal Council both → each
• resulting in a 3-3 tie .. the second vote was still 2-2 ... they wanted to go in 6-4 with ranges like this, use a en dash instead of a hyphen: 3–3, 2–2 and 6–4. In general, hyphens are used for conjunction (associating things together) and dashes for disjunction (separating things or showing opposition). If you don't have a keyboard shortcut for en dashes, you can use – (MOS:DASH).
• The winning tribe would receive a picnic basket of Doritos and Mountain Dew. Stating the brand names might be considered promotional and I'd understand some editors genericizing these (tortilla chips and soft drinks) if they aren't mentioned elsewhere in the article (ie: if they aren't needed for context).
• Michael yelled out in pain, and ran to the water and dove in. maybe smooth this a bit for flow: Michael yelled in pain and dove into the water.

Tina's family got 4 answers correct. I would probably have rephrased this to tell a narrative of what happened rather than explaining the rules and then what happened. (This also avoids having to change tenses.) The contestants' loved ones – Tina's husband and children, Elisabeth's family, Rodger's wife, daughter, and son-in-law, Keith's girlfriend, and Colby's mother – remotely participated in the reward challenge, answering trivia questions via instant messaging. Tina's family correctly answered 4 questions and won a 30-minute Internet chat with her and a $500 shopping spree.

It implies that the writer thinks what follows took longer than it should have. We should keep our opinions out of it and just state the facts. The reader should be able to make their own conclusion if something was overdue.
• Colby and Tina both pleaded both → each. If it's a subtle distinction, both suggests that they pled collectively while each means that they did it individually.
• as the 3rd greatest season of the series 3rd → third. We generally write-out numbers from 0 to 9 (MOS:SPELL09)
• 10th out of 30 Here, keep them both as numerals, so that they're easier to compare. (MOS:NUMNOTES)

@Magnolia677: Ramoth 2007, p. 170: "The parklike setting that was supposed to surround the high-rise buildings was anything but parklike. To save money, most of the landscaping was omitted. There were only a few trees. Instead of towers-in-a-park, Pruitt-Igoe was towers surrounded by wasteland." I didn't mean that the original content was wrong, just that the proposed "river of trees" was never created. August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive reminder

The August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive is at the halfway mark, and has seen incredible progress, dropping the backlog from 638 to 359 unreviewed articles -- a 43.7% reduction in only fifteen days! But we still have over two weeks to go, and there are plenty of articles left to review:

• We've gone from 14 nominations 270+ days old and 65 nominations 180+ days old to 2 and 0 respectively. No more articles will reach 270+ status during the drive, and only three more will reach 180+ if unreviewed, so this is your last chance to get the higher age bonuses!
• We still have plenty of articles in the 90+ range, but the list is shrinking fast.
• Some articles need new reviewers, either because they're officially on second opinion or because the original reviews were deleted or invalidated. You can help prevent these articles from waiting longer!
• While there are starting to be clear favourites for the Content Review Medal of Merit, the field is still very open. A late entrant can still pull an upset to get the most reviews in the drive!

And remember: if you've done reviews, you should log them at the backlog drive page for points, so they can be tracked towards your awards at the end.
