User talk:Rocksanddirt/Archives/2008/June

Hello

I have commented on your comment on my comment at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Dihydrogen Monoxide 3. That was fun to say. Useight (talk) 05:27, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, perhaps using a + or - in front of the search term, for example: "DjangoFest +festival +review" without the quotes as the search term. The + makes the following term a requirement on the resulting pages and the - means the following term must be excluded from pages in the results. If that's not what you meant, let me know. And, yeah, there's been a lot of things going on at DHMO's RFA that makes people second guess themselves. It's been a one-of-a-kind RFA, of sorts. Useight (talk) 05:47, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

The omnibus RFC.

I note that you disgaree with my conclusion. Do you believe that Sceptre's promotion of his RFAr on Wikipedia Review was in line with the functioning of a free encyclopedia? That was my direct concern. PouponOnToast (talk) 16:19, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

I took it to be blanket request for non-participation over there, and I don't support that. (I don't post there, or even read it, unless stuff is linked like in this rfc). --Rocksanddirt (talk) 16:25, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, no. My statement was substantially more subtle than that - "to the extent they are unable to engage in Wikipedia-Review in either a net-positive or net-neutral way, they stop engaging there entirely." PouponOnToast (talk) 16:26, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

COI Noticeboard

There is an entry on the COI Noticeboard regarding Oxford Round Table editor PigeonPiece. Your comments would be appreciated. Cheers.Academic38 (talk) 21:30, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Username question

Hi Rocksanddirt, I apologize if you've already been asked questions like this before, but is your username pronounced "rocks and dirt" or "rock sand dirt", or is it up to the interpretation of the reader? I'm just curious. Thanks. Acalamari 16:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

up to the readers interpretation, really....but I say rocks and dirt. (I'm a geologist, and so that's what I work with) --Rocksanddirt (talk) 16:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
That sound good to me: thanks for the response. :) Acalamari 16:57, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

I refactored your comment on Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/C68-FM-SV/Workshop. Please reply on my user talk page. Thanks. Bwrs (talk) 03:06, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Cambrian explosion task force

Hi,

I'm posting this message because you're listed as a participant in WikiProject Geology. I've set up a task force aiming to improve Wikipedia's coverage of the Cambrian explosion, and I was wondering whether you may be interested in helping out? If you would like to help in any way, you could cast an eye over the task force page and see if there are any articles or tasks that take your fancy! Any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,
