Re: vandalism warnings

Hi Robvanvee. The correct place to leave warnings is on the user's talk page, as you did later at User talk:216.73.194.28. You can use the template messages at WP:WARN if they apply to the particular situation. Leaving warnings on the article talk page, like Talk:John Moschitta, Jr., is mostly useless, because the vandal will probably not be looking there, and has no way of knowing that there are messages on the article talk page intended for him/her. Below is a copy of an email I sent to Spencer. I do not know who you are or why you keep editing my page but please stop it immediately.

Spencer ....This is John Moschitta Jr. I am NOT vandalizing my page....I am correcting it. I do not know who user Robvanvee is or why they keep changing my page. The edits I have been making are corrections to erroneous information that has been added to my page. The sentence I repeatedly have removed is: "His record was later broken by the current record-holder, Steve Woodmore, who speaks 637 wpm." The record referred to was achieved under shady circumstances and was never recognized by the US version of the book due to the unethical manner in which it was done. All that is a mute point because another gentleman, Sean Shannon has held the record since August 30,1995 when he spoke at a rate of 655 words per minute. I vet my page for accurate information and remove incorrect statements. If Steve Woodmore would like to lie on his page....as he does at : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Woodmore that is his business but I do not want to be associated with him in any manner on my page. In addition someone, I am assuming it's Robvanee, keeps adding both Steve Woodmore and Fran Capo in the "see also" section. Ms. Capo has been discredited and I do not want any association with her either. I do not see any reason to direct people to pages that contain false information. Please let me know what I need to do to rectify this problem. I am pretty much a technical idiot and would appreciate it if you contacted me directly by email at JMthe2nd@aol.com ... I am not even sure that I have done this message correctly and I really want to get to the bottom of this problem and make it stop. i have just sent him this: JMthe2nd To get to the bottom of this: As I understand the rules of the site to be, you cant just remove something simply because you don't agree with it. If something you know for a fact isn't true, then find and list substantial evidence from reliable sources that prove otherwise. This page is of a public figure on an open encyclopedic website that anyone can edit. The John Moschitta Jr. page belongs to everyone that uses this site. If you dispute the Steve Woodmore record, then please feel free to make the changes with sources listed. The same applies to the Sean Shannon record you mention. Calling Steve Woodmore a liar is not productive, and neither is removing links from the page . Especially given your reason: you don't agree. You may or not be John Moschitta Jr.(imagine everyone just removing things because they don't agree with it, claiming to be the featured person), but that doesn't really matter. While it's true that Wikipedia is an open encyclopedic website that anyone can edit that does not mean that people can post false information. I have only removed FALSE information. Steve Woodmore is not the current record holder and I have included the link to Sean Shannon on the OFFICIAL GUINNESS site that clearly states Mr. Shannon has held the record since 1995. ( http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/1/fastest-talker ). I do not know what other proof (or as you put it: substantial evidence from reliable sources that prove otherwise) you or anyone else needs to prove that any information or statement that is made claiming Steve Woodmore to be the current record holder is a falsehood and any such reference should be removed from my page. It was inapprorpriate of me to suggest that Steve Woodmore lied on his page. I have no evidencde that he is personally responsible for the untrue information on his page but clearly someone is misinformed. If Steve Woodmore, or whoever it is that edits his page, wants to make false statements on the Steve Woodmore page they are free to do so ... I frankly do not care. I remove the links because I do not feel it is appropriate to direct people to false information.
