New articles edit

Your Barloader and Barfeeder articles consist of a single sentence, comprising little more than a dictionary definition. If you have nothing more to say about these topics, the articles really don't meet Wikipedia's guidelines. I had redirected them to the appropriate bar stock article, which mentions these concepts. If you have nothing more to say, can you explain why you reverted the redirect? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:30, 9 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Dan,
I am not much in to rambling, I believe the shorter the better, as long as it says everything it needs to.
But I guess that isn't the policy here, so please give me a bid of time, I will add more to both pages.
Thank you

Speedy deletion nomination of Barloader edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Barloader, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Endofskull (talk) 22:44, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

A suggestion edit

The three articles that you have created, barfeeder, barloader and Sliding Headstock Machine, all appear to have problems. The barfeeder and barloader articles appear to consist of a single sentence defining the term, and a list of manufacturers. This doesn't really make for a very useful encyclopedia article, as Wikipedia is not a directory. The Sliding Headstock Machine article has many problems. It is unreferenced, and written in a highly personal tone, indicating that the information is based on your own personal experience.

While many people are under the mistaken impression that the "WIKI" in Wikipedia stands for "What I Know Is", this is a misconception. The point of Wikipedia is not to share your own personal knowledge, but to write an online encyclopedia that is reliable and verifiable. Phrases such as

The Sliding Headstock Machinist is often referred to as the Prima donna of the industry. There are a lot of reasons for that. Here are some I can think of.

have no place in such an encyclopedia.

My suggestion to you is that, since none of these articles appears to be sustainable in their own right, and all are likely to be deleted if submitted to articles for deletion (as they will surely be in their present condition), why not add the relevant material to the existing Wikipedia article on machining. There is a section there titled Overview of machining technology. I believe a subsection under that section titled "Feed machinery" or something similar would be a good place to add the information about these technologies. -- WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:08, 12 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
