Hello, Mr. Robert Johnston, it seems that you have added the name of Alvis Brooks back to the article on Shelby, Mississippi at the advice of M.D. Lawes. Mr. Lawes and I have discussed this for some time and I told him that if he could not find a reference, printed or online, for this information, it would be deleted. Of course, I would make sure the reference exists. I haven't found a single relevant Google hit for Alvis Brooks, nor have I found one for the KT socket wrench, the tool he supposedly invented. Mr. Brooks, if he is real, may be well-known locally, but if he is not notable on a larger scale, such that an unbiased third-party source cannot be found about him, then any information about him will most likely be deleted. Now, you edited his name back in and described him as the brother of Mel Brooks. If you are talking about the famous actor and comedian, the only notable Mel Brooks, I'm afraid that you're mistaken. Mel Brooks had three brothers named Bernard, Leonard, and Irving.[1][2]Also, neither being related to a notable person nor being a war veteran makes a person notable; if either did, we would have thousands of articles on virtually unknown people. For now, I'll assume that you have added his name out of genuine interest to improve Wikipedia, but I have deleted the mention of Alvis Brooks in the article for now. --Qmwne235 17:10, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

I note from the above comment that you are in disagreement with User:Qmwne235 however disrupting articles to make a point as you did to Shelby, Mississippi with this edit is not an acceptable way to proceed and could be considered a personal attack. Alvis Brooks - request to desist

Good morning Mr. Johnson. I have already left a copy of this note on the talk page of your friend User talk:M.D Lawes and I suspect that you have already seen it there but as you have just edited the article I must respectfully request that you stop adding the name of Alvis Brooks to Shelby, Mississippi; the reasons for this have been well explained already both here and over at M.D Lawes talk page and until some evidence of Mr Brook's notability can be provided his name will continue to be removed. The assertions of notability which have been made so far have proven to be false (namely this edit [3] which claimed him to be a brother of Mel Brooks and this one [4] which claims he invented the KT socket wrench (an item which itself does not appear to exist). The one assertion which does have some basis in fact is that Alvis was a "local farm mechanic, a wonderful person who touched peoples lives" [5] which is a lovely sentiment but is not encyclopaedic and does not meet Wikpedia's notability standards. Several people are watching the Shelby article and as you have already witnessed Alvis's name has been removed quickly every time it has been added and this will continue until notability can be established enough to satisfy the Wikipedia policy so please don't add it again.
