Guam National Wildlife Refuge edit

Very nice job on the Guam National Wildlife Refuge. Many, many thanks for creating. It's a great Guam article. I did some very minor ce and link work on it. Wiki needs more good Guam articles. Sprinkler21 (talk) 23:54, 21 February 2012 (UTC)Sprinkler21Reply

Thanks for helping me clean it up! RevelationDirect (talk) 03:13, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

I'm glad there is at least one other wikipedian who knows that it is generally wrong to categorize people by race. SMP0328. (talk) 03:07, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. The main bias amongst editors in the Categories for Discussion page may surprise you though: most are very cautious about any changes if the category is already broadly in use. That is why a lot of the comments share our concerns about classifying people, but then go on to vote to Keep the category as is. RevelationDirect (talk) 03:32, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
They know it's wrong, but feel it should not be changed because it has gone on for too long. I'll assume they are simply sticklers for tradition. SMP0328. (talk) 04:30, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Discussion on occupation categories edit

I think it would save us a lot of effort if we worked out a general principle on this. See Wikipedia talk:Categories for discussion#On the categorization of biographies by (perhaps) incidental occupation. Mangoe (talk) 19:50, 7 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Republic of China article edit

Since you have previously shared your view in a CfD about the Republic of China, I guess you are interested to share your insight at Talk:Republic of China#Requested Move (February 2012) too. Thanks for your attention. 61.18.170.223 (talk) 11:10, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Gondola lifts subcategory proposal edit

Hello, you recently participated in a CFD relating to Gondola lifts in Hong Kong. The close rationale at that discussion suggested there may be consensus to merge each country subcategory into Category:Gondola lifts, however that outcome was outside the scope of that CFD and would require a new discussion. As such, WP:Categories for discussion/Log/2012 April 7#Subcategories of Category:Gondola lifts by country has been created. Since you participated in the previous CFD, you're invited to leave your comments at the new CFD. NULL talk

Islands of Fujian edit

You have created Category:Islands in Fujian Province, Taiwan earlier on. Do you think Category:Islands of Fujian should likewise be split, with a subcategory for PRC's Fujian Province? Jeffrey (talk) 17:04, 10 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Based on the negative reaction in the related nomination, I was actually thinking of doing a delete as the creator. Do you think we should keep the category then? RevelationDirect (talk) 02:04, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
It's actually okay to keep it in my opinion. But if it's kept it gotta be renamed. The current name doesn't sound natural or usual. I'd prefer Category:Islands of Fujian Province (Republic of China) or Category:Islands of Fujian Province, Republic of China. Jeffrey (talk) 21:52, 13 April 2012 (UTC) 22:18, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
The result of that nom was no consensus, which counts both for and against. If you're concerned about support, you could try an RFC before making any changes. Greater community input is always a good thing on heated topic areas like this. NULL talk

What do you think about running the nom again, but splitting it. Do the easy upmerge of Category:Archipelagoes of the Republic of China and Category:Taiwan island group first, and when that's done, proposing the merge of Category:Islands of the Republic of China to Category:Islands of Taiwan. As Null said, both with greater input. It'd be useful to have a central location to note all the proposals being discussed. I guess the best there currently is is Talk:Taiwan. CMD (talk) 02:54, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I honestly thought this nomination would be non-controversial but, sure, I'll break it down and give it another try. Just listed the more narrow nomination as you suggested. Maybe we can build some trust with this one. I'll also post a notice at Talk:Taiwan. Thanks. RevelationDirect (talk) 18:28, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I put the notice at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Taiwan which might be a better spot than the article talk. RevelationDirect (talk) 21:55, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
