Tvoz legal threat

If you say "dispute resolution" then you must ban Tvoz if Tvoz does not go through dispute resolution and, instead, tries to falsely accuse me of being a sock and ban me. Tvoz is famous for that on the internet, that is, trying to ban people when they don't agree with POV pushing. I wish people would be nicer here.

I am KVS. 122.164.134.73 (talk) 11:58, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I am willing to go through dispute resolution but there is no dispute. I am for NPOV. Tvoz is for threats. 122.164.134.73 (talk) 11:59, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

People are usually very nice. But that stops when other people start shrieking their demands to ban people for no reason and when they start lying about legal threats that haven't been made. The other user is not going to be banned. Period. So stop calling for it and get over it. And you're clearly not willing to go through with dispute resolution if you're in a dispute and claiming otherwise. ➨ REDVEЯS paints a vulgar picture 12:01, 4 April 2008 (UTC

Tvoz says he has banned others and threatens to ban me because he disagrees with my edit. Tvoz is not very nice. 122.164.134.73 (talk) 12:21, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Why are you threatening to ban me? I am the victim of a threat. Shouldn't a good administrator talk with the person making the threat (ok, you say not a legal threat but it is a threat)? Instead, you disagree so you threaten to ban me. Is this the face of Wikipedia? Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a bunch of rude people with the administrative mop to bang people on the head with. Please, help me with this threat and maybe tell Tvoz to stop it. 122.164.134.73 (talk) 12:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Will you not get over this? There was no threat, legal or otherwise. The user in question simply mentioned to you that someone, as you probably already knew, had used sockpuppets to insert the statement you wanted to insert. You then went off the deep end. Now stop disrupting Wikipedia or you will be blocked for it. ➨ REDVEЯS paints a vulgar picture 12:23, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Campaign

The notice at the top of this page (JOIN THE CAMPAIGN: DON'T POST YOUR IMAGES TO COMMONS! DON'T ENCOURAGE THEM!) intrigued me. I'd like to know more-why shouldn't I post files to commons etc. --Puchiko (Talk-email) 14:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Commons is a sore point with me. The problem is that it is inhabited by the biggest bunch of officious jerks you could ever hope to meet. You spend time and money travelling somewhere to get a requested picture, upload it and get silence. A year later, someone templates you: you didn't categorise it, you categorised it faintly wrongly, something like that. No "thank you for uploading..." or "can I help you with..." - basic common courtesy. No, you just get templates and nitpicking, oh so much nitpicking. The place is infested with users who spend their lives nitpicking, moving your images from one category to another, unable to decide between them where they belong, but all of the unanimous opinion that you, the uploader, are an idiot. Fuck that for a game of marbles. And then, worse, some of the most officious jerks now operate here - as admins! - and template regular users to complain of the same non-problems, again without even the most common of courtesy. No, for me they can stuff Commons and its officious jerk editors - I'm helping Wikipedia by uploading free images, not damaging it, so they can bite my shiny metal ass. ➨ REDVEЯS knows it's gonna happen someday 18:59, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Suspicions regarding ANI

Hi, I saw that you handled the ANI after various sockpuppets pulled a stunt at the Novels Wikiproject election and then one of them vandalized my userpage. Thank you for that. You voiced a suspicion that the perpetrator was known sockpuppeteer Tom.mevlie (talk · contribs), something that I think is highly likely. I believe you should know that I and others believe WilliamMThompson (talk · contribs) to be another one of Tom's aliases.

WilliamMThompson, who I have had arguably negative contact with previously, has been blocked before for suspicion of being a sockpuppet of Tom's. After this rant on his own talk page regarding last night's puppeteering, I'm suspicious myself that he was the one to carry off the "votestacking" and userpage vandalism. The fact that he was able to "identify" all of the usernames with Beatles songs is fairly odd; I didn't catch that myself. He was able to revert the vandalism on my userpage only three minutes after the fact and was actively editing under the WilliamMThompson account only seven minutes prior to the revert. The sockpuppet who vandalized my userpage and a previous puppet of Tom's also share a favorite word. Tom and William have similarly poor grammatical and writing skills ("besmerching" is used both in the previous link and in Tom's so-called retirement speech on his talk page, and confusing "loose" for "lose" is common for both) and their editing times coincide with the same time zone. There are various other reasons to believe there's a connection, and after last night I think it's fairly obvious. Perhaps, being an admin, you can suggest a course of action. María (habla conmigo) 15:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it does look pretty damning. My initial thought was that WTM was a victim rather than a puppet, despite the block. It's unusual, but not unprecidented, for the good-hand account to be a puppet and to sit quietly whilst the original bad-hand account goes on the rampage. I wonder if Tom's contributions are fresh enough for a CheckUser? Probably worth trying. ➨ REDVEЯS knows it's gonna happen someday 18:59, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
The original blocking admin read my mind and already listed the case at checkuser here. I guess we'll see! María (habla conmigo) 19:08, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, just saw that myself - started to create the case in Notepad, went to create the page for it, bang, there it was! I'll watch with interest. If it is proven, I will indef block WTM, because the unprovoked attacks on you made me sick and the "speculation" on how and why it happened just compound that. Until then, we'll AGF etc and grit our collective teeth. ➨ REDVEЯS knows it's gonna happen someday 19:12, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the effort; myself and another user were also trying to create the page at the same time, so it's nothing if not agreed upon. :) AGFing and gritting my teeth as I type, honest. María (habla conmigo) 19:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
And gone, quickly and easily, thankfully. Please let me know if you get similar harassment in future: you're a valued, valuable editor and such things should not happen to you. ➨ REDVEЯS knows it's gonna happen someday 20:54, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Henry Gilman

You recently edited the Henry Gilman page, I know it was something small. But I was wondering if you could give me a couple pointers on how to move articles up a class. For exmple the Henry GIlman page is rated in the start class, in the WikiBio project and I was hoping to move it up. I have read the material about what a certain article needs to be in a certain class, but I was hoping you could look over my article and help me out personally. If you have time, it would be greatly apperciated. Thanks Matthew Gravert (talk) 21:53, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Uh, but your last edits were to re-upload an image that we can't accept (under a different licence this time) and to revert my removal of that image from the article without comment. So, forgive me, but I doubt your motives in coming to me at this point (because people posting copyright images almost always do this type of thing). ➨ REDVEЯS knows it's gonna happen someday 21:09, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Two things

First, your signature regularly distracts me into spending a minute wondering what gave rise to its latest incarnation.

Second, what's the problem with Commons? can you link me to a discussion about the problem? I was just considering uploading an entire bunch of PD things... --Relata refero (disp.) 14:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

The signatures are usually Morrissey or The Smiths quotes, with the occasional witticism from me thrown in :o)
As for Commons: this is a sore point with me. In my experience, it is inhabited by the biggest bunch of officious jerks you could ever hope not to meet. I spend time (and sometimes money) travelling somewhere to get a requested picture, upload it and get silence. A year later, someone templates you: you didn't categorise it or you categorised it very very faintly wrongly, or it is on a subject that has "enough" photos or whatever. These templates never begin "thank you for uploading..." or "can I help you with...". They're just nitpicking templates from people who only nitpick and move images from one category to another, unable to decide between them where they belong, but unanimous that the uploader is an idiot for not getting it right first time. That was hard enough to take on Commons, but they're now increasingly active here and bring their nasty habits with them, templating regular 'pedia users to complain of the same non-problems, again without even the most common of courtesies. Stuff Commons and its officious jerk editors - I'm helping Wikipedia by uploading free images, not damaging it, so they can fuck that for a game of marbles. ➨ REDVEЯS is always ready to dynamically make tea 18:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

User:Enurscape

He's requesting unblock. Since only today was the account used for pure vandalism, I am considering it, but I want an explanation from him. If you have any input, feel free to put it there. Daniel Case (talk) 14:23, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Did you see they types of mindless, childish vandalism from this account? [2] [3] [4] [5] for instance? Most of these were designed to increase page size to make manual reversion difficult. The account went from good to very very bad very suddenly. No explanation was offered, just an immediate unblock request. The account must be compromised; if not, the editor is dangerously unpredictable. So far, I would oppose an unblock quite strenuously. ➨ REDVEЯS is always ready to dynamically make tea 18:37, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Central Communications Command (revisited)

Can you go back to keeping an eye on Central Communications Command? AGF and all that, and obviously there's no evidence that PC Plod and his merry Press Bureau would ever dream of anything suggesting a COI - but it seems a little unlikely that a single-edit IP tracing back to central London and a sleeper account with only 4 edits since September would suddenly and simultaneously not only develop a sudden interest in secretive London police intelligence organisations, but feel the urge to slap {{refimprove}} tags on what must be one of the most heavily referenced articles of its length on the entire site. (I have removed an unsourced addition from what appears to be a disgruntled copper, which I'll charitably assume may have been causing the concerns from both editors.)iridescent 23:03, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
