Official Museums of Amsterdam edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Official Museums of Amsterdam, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.visitholland.nl/index.php/north-holland/amsterdam-north-holland/179-amsterdam-museums-google-maps?tmpl=component&layout=default.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Hello Ranepa4,

When you create articles edit

...please make sure the subjects are notable and that you provide sources . Wikipedia isn't a place to advertise museums - we need to know what makes the museums significant. If you want to work on some others, perhaps try WP:Articles for Creation, where your work will be reviewed before it goes live. That way, you can see whether your subject is significant and that you've written the article in non-promotional language (that is, without trying to tell us what facilities the museum has; we'd be more interested if the museum is culturally significant in itself, and not just that it exists or holds cultural artefacts). This is trying to help you keep your work without it being deleted.

However, thank you for wanting to contribute! Please don't be discouraged - a good thing now would be to read through the set of links at the top of this page and work out how to approach building a better article that will pass the scrutiny of people looking through new pages. LouiseS1979 (talk) 10:30, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

My apologies for being a little abrupt and/or giving you a stock answer earlier on. I've had a look at some of the articles in the same general area in which you are primarily editing. First of all, a bit of a self-correction; my local museum is mentioned on Wikipedia, largely because it has a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry in it and has links to the local Roman remains at Silchester. So what we're looking for is significant exhibits. (Even then, I think the sources are a little self-referential for that particular museum.)
I've also had a look at the existing museum articles for the Netherlands, and at the Netherlands Wikipedia rules (as much as I could decipher as I don't speak Dutch). I'm not sure what the notability guidelines are on your local Wikipedia, but generally speaking, they're quite tight on en-wiki. We do need specific third-party neutral sources, and the existing pages on Dutch museums - which someone else created - I thought lacked independent sourcing (some linked to their own website, and some got as far as travel guides, which are not really adequate sources because they're designed as local directories rather than selectively picking out subjects of note).
What you might want to do now is take the article that has been let through (thanks to WereSpielChequers :)) and improve it in line with the existing articles - a lot more specific detail on why the Huis Marseille is notable, good referencing and sources, and so on. Be careful with listing facilities - it's tempting, but the Wikipedia audience isn't interested in this - they want to know why the museum itself is culturally significant and important, and what exhibits it has that are notable. Since you evidently feel there's a gap in our coverage, please feel free to fill it (be my guest - I mean this 100% sincerely) if the subjects fit with the notability guidelines on the English Wikipedia.
Feel free, also, to ask me any questions you need answering, or to take a look at an article. The standards for inclusion are high right now, and so new pages are going to be very closely scrutinised. If you plan to create more, then WP:Articles for Creation is a good way of getting this feedback before your article goes live. LouiseS1979 (talk) 18:49, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Huis Marseille edit

Hello Ranepa4,

Hi Ranepa4: I think Huis Marseille is now safe; I've expanded it using sources I found, and linked it to the Dutch Wikipedia article and added the picture from there.
I am an administrator, so I can see the articles you created that have been deleted. The advice you have been given above about making clear why a topic is notable and providing references is good advice. Here is the general page on notability on English Wikipedia; I expect the one on the Dutch Wikipedia is very similar. Specific notability guidelines for people are here, but for musicians, here. But broadly speaking, English Wikipedia is stricter about requiring sources than other Wikipedias, and we abolsutely require at least one source for new articles about living people. Don't save a new article until you have included at least one reference, or there is a very high risk it will be nominated for speedy deletion. I have three pieces of additional advice that I hope will help you.
  • Don't use machine translations except to guide you; the output is very bad. Especially, computers translate names! Your article Tamara Hookwater was about Tamara Hoekwater; the misspelling of the title made it far less likely that anyone trying to judge whether she was notable would have found any sources. By the way, if you discover you have started an article at the wrong title, use the "move" button at the top of the page to write the title you want to change it to.
  • The Tamara Hookwater article was a translation of the Dutch Wikipedia page. If you translate from a foreign-language Wikipedia, you should immediately say so in your first edit summary - or as soon as you remember. This is actually required by Wikipedia's licence, to give credit to those who helped write the article on the other Wikipedia; it also assists people trying to evaluate your article, because they can look at that article too. (Write the name of the other article like this: [[:nl:Tamara Hoekwater]])
  • When you make an article about something that already has an article on another Wikipedia, even when you don't translate, immediately connect them on Wikidata. To do this, go to the Dutch Wikipedia article and at the bottom of the sidebar, you will see "koppelingen toevoegen". Click there and in the edit box first put in en and click on English Wikipedia when it supplies that as what it thinks you mean, then type in the title of the English Wikipedia article you have just created, and save. Both articles will now show a link to the other in the sidebar. This also helps people evaluating your new article (and it helps people who may want to help by expanding your article).
Hope this helps, thanks for the articles; I may try to bring back one or two of them, or Drmies, another administrator here who, unlike me, can really read Dutch well, may do so. But in any event I hope I've helped you to make your next article avoid nomination for deletion. Yngvadottir (talk) 21:05, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of MPR - Marketing & Public Relations edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on MPR - Marketing & Public Relations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from www.museumarm.am/en/organizers. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 21:33, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Arthur F.E. van Schendel edit

The article Arthur F.E. van Schendel has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. 333-blue 13:41, 9 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:BjoernStenvers.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:BjoernStenvers.jpg, which you've attributed to Alexandra Zhivushkina/ Rashit Shiriyazdanov. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:22, 3 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
