Probably a simple thing, but. I replaced the Berlin fossil picture, and another Wikipedian arranged that and the Munich image, so that now there is a column of white space below the Berlin image that pushes the Munich image and text to the left. I do not see what does this, so have not tried to fix it. --Dumarest 11:58, 28 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Apparently userboxes can be formatted using either HTML tables or wiki-markup infoboxes. I'm not very experienced at this. My recommendation is look at the user pages of people who are experienced, until you find one leyout in a way you like and then copy it. Or you can try the village pump technical section. Bluestone edit

I've made a few odd edits, and I'm thinking that the greatest problem is sourcing this article. A Google web search turns up little information. The sentence pattern is still isn't too fluent. I tried to increase it using a new section, but it's still sort of chopping. I put it on my watchlist, but it still needs some work. bibliomaniac15 22:16, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

There are no sources listed at all in the pre-stub version, except a source for his date of death, which isn't that helpful. How's your Portuguese or Spanish? A google search for his name shows no English sites excepts Wikipedia mirrors. I can attempt to translate some of the Spanish info, but I learned Castilian Spanish and my abilities with Colombian dialect are nil. Natalie 02:22, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Help with disambiguation edit

Hi I've turned to you for help as you were first to put a message on my talk page. (Thanks). There is a page about Aiki which is about a film. I would expect a page about Aiki to be about the martial arts principle, so would like to disambiguate 'Aiki'. I went to the wikipedia page about diambiguation policy but left baffled. Help! Womble bee 17:14, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I apologise for not replying sooner, as I have been away from the keyboard for a while. I have started to write an aiki (martial arts principle) article, which I hope to upload today. Womble bee 09:08, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have created an article aiki (martial arts principle). I suggest that this is changed to aiki and that the current aiki page is changed to aiki (film). Aiki used to redirect to Aikido, so i suggest that a disambiguation page is created which lists aiki, aiki (film) aikido, aiki-ken and aikijujutsu. Womble bee 10:19, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Help with Mos edit

Since you were the one to leave me the WP welcome message, I guess I'll ask you: there is a bunch of articles on "municipalities in Pontevedra" (see list), most of which are about a year old and contain a single line of text and an infobox, and haven't been significantly edited since their creation. Now I got to these articles when searching for Mos, which seems a bit strange when it would, in my opinion, be better to have this page redirect to the dab at MOS. I'm not sure what to do in this situation, should these articles perhaps be AfD'ed? I hope you can help. -Shai-kun 19:16, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

If the municipalities have governments (as opposed to neighborhoods which may not be well defined) I would oppose deletion at AFD. Cities, towns, etc. are one of the few things I consider inherently notable (but only if they have well defined boundaries and have a municipal government). Most places in the United States were loaded from census data, our coverage of the rest of the world is not as comprehensive. The articles you mention are marked as stubs and I hope someone wih interest in places in Spain will eventually expand them. (If they are not significant I would be willing to change my opinion on keep, but I'd need something showing they aren't notable).
Note that MOS and Mos go to different articles (it's based on capitalization of non first characters). Mos is considered a place name, MOS in considered an acronym (wiktionary would say initialism). MOS is a disambiguation page for the abbreviation. Mos has a link to MOS for those who arrive at the wrogn article. I have no trouble with the current state but see WP:BOLD and feel free to discuss it on talk pages (I don't know how many people would respond). RJFJR 14:24, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi RJFJR,

While patrolling for vandalism I stumbled across this page that appears to be an almost entirely nonsensical promotion. I tagged it for speedy deletion, but the editor deleted my tag. Perhaps the article could be salvaged, but I think it needs serious work (if it even deserves it). I'm leaving a note on your talk page because you helped me out a while ago with a similar issue. Just wanted to let an admin know so I wouldn't have to keep putting the tag up for someone to see it.

I caught your assignment of this article, and while I'm not sure I'll be able to bring it up to a point where the cleanup tag can be removed (I don't even trust my own judgement, even if at the end I did an exceptional editing job, I'd still want an outside opinion), I think I can improve it at least a little (maybe even a bit, or a lot). Do I have a time limit? If I don't get to it in the next week or two, will that be okay? This is actually my first assignment, so I'd love to hear your feedback (especially after I try cleaning it up). Xaxafrad 20:35, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Building 12 edit

A tag has been placed on Building 12, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is an article about a certain web site, blog, forum, or other community of web users that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. With permission edit

First, you have to be sure that they mean to release it under the GFDL or into the public domain (if it is text) or under one of the several allowable licenses (if it is an image) -- "permission to use" is not enough, and if they really mean to release it, they need to say so. There are some example request letters to help explain to people what is meant by that at Wikipedia:Example requests for permission. After that, they should comment on the talk page that they release it, and also send an email to permissions@wikimedia.org. Cheers, Kat Walsh (spill your mind?) 02:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reply: Talk:Second moment of area edit

Hi RJFJR

I'm not quite sure whether I would prefer to put the product moment material in the second moment article or not. It certainly deserves a mention there, but if I can dig up enough material for a full article, well, then I probably should start a new one. I intend to have a look at my textbooks and try to come up with something. Hemmingsen 16:03, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I decided that I would prefer to keep them together and added a product moment section to the Second moment of area-article. The bit on the connection between rotating the coordinate system and calculating the area moments in the new system would be difficult to explain without repeating a bunch of the material in the second moment-article, and I don't think I would be able to write anything but a stub about the product moment, if I made it a separate article. Does this sound like a reasonable decision? Hemmingsen 18:42, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, the order of magnitude of σ will vary with the material. For the most common types of structural steel, the capacity is about 235MPa, for expensive high-strength steel as much as 1200MPa. For concrete in compression, the common values are about 15 to 50MPa; for concrete in tension about 1MPa. The strength of timber is around 10 to 30MPa when the fibers are perpendicular to the cross section, and around 0.5 to 2MPa otherwise. Hemmingsen 19:43, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I must have been a little slow earlier. The dimension is force per area. There are more details in stress (physics). Hemmingsen 05:34, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Trachinocephalus myops edit

Greetings. The reason I deleted that section about this fish being an invasive species is that it was completely wrong! The newspaper article was discussing a freshwater fish of the genus Channa of the family Channidae, while this article is about a marine fish, Trachinocephalus myops, from a completely different family (the Synodontidae). They both happen to be called (sometimes) "snakefish". But as is often the case, common names lead to confusion. They are truly as distinct from one another as pandas are from kangaroos! My recommendation (as someone who makes a living writing about fish) is to always, always, always go by the Latin name of fish species. Common names are almost completely useless with fish. RE: Armored Core (video game) edit

Hey,

I tagged that article a long time ago, it looks like. At a glance, I'd say just add a few sentences on the developer, etc (mostly stuff from the infobox) - think of it this way, it's a little redundant, but people read the intro for a basic paragraph that broadly covers the topic. The info box is for "at a glance" information. So a sentence or two on development, publishing company, release date(s), reception, etc might be helpful. Generally that lead section would be 1-2 paragraphs, but that's a soft rule. Hope that helps, lemme know if you'd like some more clarification. Nswinton\talk 00:47, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I added some of the material you mentioned and removed the tooshort tag for the intro. There really isn't that much to say about this game in the intro (to me it's just another game, I haven't even played it). It looks like a nice concise intro to me now. Thank you for the response. Boycotting the boycott edit

When you say you are "boycotting the boycott" I assume you are hinting at the fact that the reason you removed the boycott from the article was not because you did not think it was applicable to the subject of the article, and not because it was original research or anything like that. I assume what you are saying is that you don't like the boycott, so you are just going to delete it because you are worried that someone who hasn't heard of it will see it, and they will like the idea of the boycott and join it.

Your own wording has contradicted your stance that the only reason you were removing it from the talk page was because it was not notable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by I love webcomics (talkcontribs) 17:44, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article William Oliver Reese, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of William Oliver Reese. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 05:49, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I suggest you look at this, for possible considerations of copyright problems. I asked an admin about it, but I got no real guidance. Best of luck! Unschool (talk) 19:58, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aftab Ahmed Vohra edit

RJFR ... you did a major wikification on Aftab Ahmed Vohra in early December. As described at Talk:Aftab Ahmed Vohra#Major revision, I have reverted this article back to its state in July 2006. It would be good to start forward again from that point. Regards --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 00:54, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

New To This: Response to Your Queries edit

Hi. Is there any way to contact you through email? I might be able to answer some of your queries regarding certain Burma articles, however, due to the political nature of certain elements I'm a little averse to doing so publicly. PreDefined (talk) 05:16, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ghosting (identity theft) edit

I see you have a history of working on the article Ghosting (identity theft). I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give. BirgitteSB 19:16, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately I merely did copyediting on that article. It was tagged for cleanup and was one of the oldest in that category. I have no references available. RJFJR (talk) 04:30, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the looking into it.--BirgitteSB 17:13, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

criminal acts edit

It's at Wikipedia:Notability (criminal acts). It's currently only a proposal, hence why on the XfD pages I listed common sense arguments for deletion as well. This is about them, I assume? Ironholds 21:21, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

How to Reference Properly, Cite References, and Edit Notes Section edit

Greetings, RJFJR...!

I read your kind comments on my Talk Page. Yes, I am new to editing. I was inspired to edit the page on Neuroplasticity, and have been making some changes on it for the past few days. I added many external links and one reference. However, I was unable to cite the same reference elsewhere without its making an addition to the numbered list of notes. This was not what I wanted to do, as it created a redundancy. Can you offer any suggestions? I have read the Wiki Citing References section and have looked elsewhere for assistance but have been unable to overcome this difficulty.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.FrancineEisner (talk) 15:12, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, RJFJR, I still have no idea of what to do...! The editing page has no info, only

. I do see the superscripts a b c in front of the first reference on the article page, but what I need to do in order to use a reference more than once is still a mystery to me.

Thanks --FrancineEisner (talk) 17:42, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just read your reply on my talk page. Thanks for your continual assistance...! Actually, I have to give myself a grain of credit too, b/c I figured it out myself by trial and error in the library on a public computer before I read your reply. The process of referencing is a bit counterintuitive, IMHO. Thanks again...:)FrancineEisner (talk) 19:31, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup Taskforce edit

I did have myself on this at some point; at least, I thought I did. Is this still active? If so, I'm up for it again. -- MatthewDBA (talk) 18:54, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not today but maybe tomorrow I can start looking at articles - if you need help, I can probably take some part in organization. Thanks! MatthewDBA (talk) 16:27, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Okay, i went on some other pages as you advised and figured out how they added their images. However i am still a little confused....i understand how to write out the HTML for adding the image but dont actually know how to get the image onto my page...i think i need very simple instructions as to how to do this. Could you please help me out?Ggd101 (talk) 14:33, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Integration using parametric derivatives edit

I've just done some edits to Integration using parametric derivatives, intended to begin moving the article somewhat closer to standard conventions of Wikipedia and of the mathematics community in general.

Please look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (mathematics).

Notice that "displayed" TeX should be indented by a colon, thus:

I think the manual may also say something about putting a small space, created by a backslash followed by a comma, between "ƒ(x)" and "dx".

Generally, one writes

a + b + c + d
= e

and not

a + b + c + d =
e

i.e. the "=" appears at the beginning of the next line. That is conventional not only on Wikipedia but everywhere. Michael Hardy (talk) 14:27, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fourier series edit

Do you realize that in your recent edit to Fourier series you refered to the coefficients as (capital) An and Bn in some places and as (lower-case) an and bn in others?

Also, it is horribly uncouth to use an asterisk for ordinary multiplication in TeX. That use of asterisks is for limited keyboards. TeX is sophisticated. Michael Hardy (talk) 16:41, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

transfer principle edit

Hi, thanks for your edit and welcome to the non-standard world. I have made a number of edits recently at non-standard analysis, non-standard calculus, standard part function, hyperinteger, etc. It would be good if someone could look it over to make sure I have not introduced any (new)mistakes.
