Ooo i just remembered, the lyrics for second track on Four Formulas was written by me. Dan did the music of course. Quentin

Hey cooll on the Crass connection. If you speak to Frances or Gary at anytime give them my regards, Im pretty sure they will still recall me from back then. Do you have any contact info for Dan at all? It would be fun to get in touch with him after all these years.

Quentin

Annie Anxiety in Rubella Bellet? Yep definitely was, lead singer, certainly when I was with them. i assume we are talking about the same one; came from New York I think. Quentin

You obviously were around Poison Girls/Fatal Microbes/Crass in the late 70's as well, did you know Frances, Gary, Richard, Bernie, Dan, Gemma etc? I was in Dan's first band when he was 12 and I was 13 years old back in Brighton.

Hi, do a wikipedia search for NVC (national vegetation classification), this is an ideal examination tool for zone 4-5 permaculture design, and looking to build an open source computer program to aid analysis -evaluation-design. Am also going to make an open source companion planting spreadsheet.

Hey, is there any evidence that the bass player for Trapeze was named Pete Wright in the first place? Or that such a band even existed? I know that you've checked up on Michael a lot, but I want to make sure that I'm not spreading some misinformation of his that has managed to slip through. (A reply on Talk:Trapeze (band) would probably be ideal.) Thanks! -- Toby Bartels 01:08, 8 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Dear Quercus robur, i share your concerns. I was not involved in the edit war, because the only thing i did was to replace a complete ridiculous sentence (ridiculous... my POV?) in the intro, which described alternative medicine as the process who does not kill people like chemo. I also added an explanation of the protection/editing in the Talk Page. As for the disclaimer, thats a funny story. MrNH, our friend, removed it and then asked in the talk page where the ... was it. Well, what would you do? But i agree with your comment and i usually dont like do get involved. But this MrNH guy annoys me and thats why and through with this conflict. Hello edit

I'm still getting hang of the messaging system here, Quercusrobur. I left a couple of replies to your message a while back but I left them on your regular page. Someone recently pointed out to me that I should leave messages on your "talk" page. Sorry, I didn't realise there was difference!

Anyway, what I'm trying to find out is: what did you object to on the "Vegan" page. I thought I was being very fair and neutral toward vegans and simply making the article more factual. Did you feel I was anti-vegan? I'm not at all.

There's been a long gap since your original message to me, probably because I replied in the wrong place.

I'd appreciate clarification on your message, though. You mentioned NPOV - which I thought I was already doing.

Sorry, Quercus, to see you taking leave from us. Let's hope it is only for a short(ish) time, we shall be missing you and your wisdom. I have only just realised you had said farewell to us. Enjoy your leave and take it easy --Dieter Simon 23:44, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)

it's been hard for me to realise that I can't take ownership of some pages, but there are still a few pages that I consider my babies- take care of them

you know, many of the pages you wrote, I consider yours :-) I suppose it is just as bad as you thinking there are yours :-) still, they are. Some, I remember, I translated in french, but I still consider them yours, even in another language ;-)

You're missed edit

Just so you know. We need editors with good sense and intelligence, and you're one. I hope you get the opportunity to drop by every now and then in the future -- thanks for everything you've done here, and good luck on whatever you're doing now, and I hope you're well -- and that we see you again. Why I reverted your "Overview" section on the Beatles edit

Wikipedia:Lead section specifies that a good article needs a lead section, or an introductory paragraph or two, in other words. Often articles on Wikipedia:Featured article candidates are rejected due to a lack of a lead section, which makes one more essential for the Beatles as it is already featured. Hope you'll keep on editing. Johnleemk | Talk 07:51, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing edit

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk) 18:27, Dec 8, 2004 (UTC)

Asbestosis Compensation and Liability Disputes edit

"Oak", I'f you get the chance I'd welcome your input on [3] and the preceeding (now archived) VfD debate archive . (There was a bit of a heated debate at the outset, but it seemed to calm down and the community vote decided on keeping a standalone article).

IMHO, the article has undergone reasonable revision (both during the debate itself , and subsequently), and maybe the time would be ripe to reconsider the NPOV and CLEANUP tags. What do you think? Wikityke 22:52, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Re: The Flowers of Romance edit

Howdy! Looks like all the edits to The Flowers of Romance (band) lately are either by you, myself, or some anonymous associate of Tony Blackplait. Weird stuff going on with that article. Whenever I would dispute Blackplait's involvement in the original Flowers of Romance, the guy would come back and revert his own edits. Now he's created a duplicate article at The Flowers Of Romance which is now listed at VfD. Just want to make sure you knew which edits belonged to which editor... Generally I've been removing the Disputed, etc. tags after the guy removed the dubious claims. Take care, -- Gyrofrog (talk) 06:15, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi again, as you may have noticed by now we had another mini-edit-war. Finally the guy moved the information about the "new" Flowers of Romance to its own article, The Flowers of Romance (orchestra). Of course, I had suggested to him a month ago that he do this. (Now, whether the new band is notable enough to justify keeping the article is a different question.) As the (original) article no longer mentions Tony Blackplait etc. I removed the "Disputed" and "Dubious" tags. See [[Talk:The Flowers of Romance (band). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 04:03, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Question about Veganism edit

I note you have exposed yourself as a vegan. I have some sympahies to vegetarians making the leap to excluding eggs and dairy. The former is an industry where many male chickens need to be killed and the latter relies on the production of beef. I am sure you are able to, but you need not expand on these to convince me of being a logical step for a vegetarain to make. However the area that thing confuses me is the exclusion of Honey. Bees may be cultivated without suffering or killing to produce honey. The same might be said if you had pet sheep. Surely using the wool they produce does not have to involve killing or cruelty? You may however not like the stress it might cause? I leave it for you to answer, but you wouldn't be able to apply this to the limited cognition of Bees who generally can thrive and give us honey. VfD Nominations edit

Annoyingly, nominating an article for deletion is actually a three step process. Please follow the steps at Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion#How_to_list_pages_for_deletion. Also, make sure to use the vfd2 and vfd3 tags listed there to enter your reason for deletion and place the page on the deletion log. That's how other people will be able to see the nomination even if they don't happen to go to the page in question. I've gone back through your edit history to format the entries you've already tagged and added them to the log for July 8. Thanks for helping to keep the place clean.

Your article edit

I couldn't agree more.

The essence of permaculture is it's attention to energy flows and cycles as well as personal accountability- it's as easy to lead an unsustainable, unaccountable vegan lifestyle based on imported, fossil fuel hungry, monoculturally grown, over packaged and over processed soya convenience foods, as it is to live as an unsustainable and unaccountable omnivore supported by the intensive factory pharm and the supermarket freezer counter. What's important is that we all develop an awareness of our own 'energy budgets' or the 'ecological footprints' of how we are living, and begin to work in our own ways to steadily reduce these.

This part especially. I've met too many vegan/vegetarians who drink coca cola and drive automobiles who take the high ground purely because they are vegan/vegetarian. It isn't just a matter of what and when we eat, but how we consume. I haven't bought new clothes in years and I try to reduce my energy use whenever possible, economically feasible (I can't afford a lcd screen just yet) :) - I don't think however that eating meat once or twice a week from local, humane sources is unsustainable - hell I've even eaten road kill. I don't just believe in animal rights (insofar as I don't believe in giving animals the same rights as humans - how is an animal going to become a member of a trade union or take advantage of free education?) I believe in treating animals well, but they just aren't human. The difference between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom is that we can choose to treat other animals well. Anyway, thats enough of a rant for now, if you're interested in non-english language punk music let me know I've got a huge collection. - FrancisTyers 02:54, 18 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Emanem edit

I don't think it warrants placing a disambiguation on the Eminem page, for a couple reasons, namely because I've certainly never heard of Emanem- and no one I know has either; and with a name so similar to Eminem's, you'd think they'd have attracted a bit more notice in the form of closely related names.

Image Tagging Image:Malham1.jpg edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Malham1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. As an administrator, I think you need to show more civility than demanding an apology from other users for "wronging" you. Having been an admin (myself) for almost a year now, I've encountered many instances where other users disagreed with my actions or made disparaging comments towards me. However, I never forced an apology out of other users, regardless of who was right or wrong. As an admin, you need to take the high road and put everything into perspective. I'd strongly advise against threatening and demanding other users for an apology, over such petty disagreements. Live and let live.

Cheers :-) --Madchester 01:10, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

This reply also posted on Madchester's user page;

Madchester, its interesting that you expect 'civility' to be a one way process. In what way were you behaving with 'civility' when you placed a totally inappropriate 'vandalism' notice on my talk page? In what way were you behaving with 'civility' when you reverted my changes to the Coldplay page in such a high handed manner rather than discussing the issue properly and seeking a workable consesnsus?
Furthermore, how am I 'forcing' an apology from you or 'threatening' you? What could I possibly do that would 'force' you to retract your 'vandalism' allegations? I do however expect an acknowledgement that your 'vandalism' notice was completely inappropriate and insulting to my integrity as a long standing Wikipedia contributor, and unbecoming behaviour for somebody who is so proud of having 'earned' their adminship.
However it seems that you do not have the good grace to admit that you have made a mistake, and we shall have to leave it there. At the end of the day the matter is, as you say, trivial in the bigger scheme of things, and whilst I understand that you are not prepared to lose face over this matter, I hope that you will stop and think before treating other wikipedia contribuotrs in a such a high-handed and arrogant manner in future.
Best wishes quercus robur 18:32, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I strongly suspect that both groups would be more than willing to allow a user (such as myself) to display their logos on my userpage, even though it's not fair use. Do you have any way of getting in contact with any of the copywrite holder of those logos so that they can confirm my suspicion that these logos should be realeased into the public domain, so that we can change their tagged status here on wikipedia? I'm also concerned with the Food Not Bombs logo being copywrited, even though anyone who has any connection with that group should be able to figure out there is no copywrite on that logo. That one's harder to fix, since there is no original food not bombs copywrite holder we can just ask, but still. If you can help, that would be great. If not, I understand. Just for your reference, here are links to the various logos in question: Crass, Conflict, and Food Not Bombs. Oh, also, I was hoping to upload some Conflict album cover images, and so if you have any contact with members of Conflict, could you ask about album covers as well, especially The Ungovernable Force (my favorite, if you can't tell from my username). about a picture edit

Hi, I'd like to know something about a picture. This one: Image:Mclibel1.png It arrears that you uploaded that picture.

I'm translating the McLibel case in french, and I'd like to use the same picture

The problem is that this picture is copyrighted, is there any possibility to change the license so I could use it?

Could you answer on my user page please: User:Ajor

Thanks.

Image Tagging Image:Mclibel1.png edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mclibel1.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 23:43, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Kenneth Dalziel O'Brien's motivation edit

I could be mistaken, but I don't believe it is true that KD O'Brien is more motivated by issues of soil health, than kindness to animals. While his book Veganic Gardening does not discuss kindness to animals, it is my undertanding that he is a vegan, and motivated by knidness to animals. --Nomenclator 00:25, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

ABH edit

Hey, someone on Talk: Nazi punk questioned if the band ABH should be listed. I personally have never heard of them and a google search didn't reveal too much. I was thinking you may know more about them since you were a part of the british punk scene. If you can shed any light on this, that would be nice. Thanks. Language troll edit

Hi - regards my note on Talk:Composting toilet, I've just blocked the anon for incivility and also for vandalism on armour. Just wanted to let you know. Cheers, Vsmith 02:13, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I love how you've condemned the poster for incivility even though they specifically stated that they were joking in their edit notes, and the fact that you consider attempts to rectify spelling inconsistencies across the 'pedia as vandalism is just golden and illustrates clearly what's wrong with this 'pedia. You can try to hide it with pretty language, but it's clear that what happened here was two admins working together against someone who might dare rock the boat with things like logic and reason. Talk:Boston Tea Party edit

Howdy, I noticed that you and I seem to post in one or two articles dealing with progressive issues in political science/sociology. There's currently a debate beginning in Boston Tea Party as to whether the article should include the category [6]. It meets definitions set in the articles Terrorism and Definition of terrorism, however, there are several self-proclaimed patriots who watch BTP who refuse to recognise the fact. The simple criteria for terrorism generally seem to be intimidation or destruction of property in order to change public policy or public opinion while a state of war has not yet been declared. Some users would rather use recent acts of terrorism as a yardstick, rather than using a firm definition, and hence lose their ability to discuss matters calmly. Would you be able to pop in to the Talk page and join in the discussion? Thanks much, samwaltz 05:10, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Theta Beta Potata PUNK HOUSE Deletion Review edit

Theta Beta Potata edit

This article was first started by me and was deleted back in May '06. I was reading the punk house article and saw that the link for the TBP article was no longer red so I clicked on it and there was an article back up, started by another user. I dont know who started it because, it was deleted soon after I saw it. The decision made in the "Article for Deletion" debate should be reconsidered. The article is about a punk house not a fratenal organization. It seems that the debate, run by User:ChrisB and results were reported by User:Mailer Diablo. I will post this on their talk pages. This is the first time I have requested a deletion review so please let me know what else I need to do. If there is anything. I am on wikipedia frequently and I want to learn. Thanks. Image:Indymediavid act.jpg edit

I have been cleaning up Camcorder a bit and decided to remove the addition of your image of Indymediavid act.jpg for three reasons.

 • It is a poor image--- as a thumbnail it is unreadable (could be fixed with cropping and enlarging of the original file).
 • It is not very illustrative i.e 3 people with two holding a camcorder could be anywhere doing anything and doesn't illustrate a point.
 • Since you name your self as one of the subjects this seems to be a vanity picture WP:VANITY.

Halfblue 14:42, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't me that added that jpg to the camcorder article - that image was actually uploaded to accompany the indymedia article, where I'm sure you'll agree its not inappropriate. quercus robur
Actualy I eventualy noticed that someone else posted it at Camcorder (see history). Even so the image still seems to suffers from problem #1 and #3 no matter where it is used. Halfblue 02:22, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
