Falcon Cove Middle School

Your addition of a delete template to Falcon Cove Middle School is a little unwarranted IMHO. This article (while being heavily vandalized) is an article about a school serving the community. This type of article is not uncommon on Wikipedia, and while not terribly noteworthy, it isnt a collection of lists or unrelated statements either. I am keeping an eye on that page and hoping that students there will take responsibility for expanding the article in productive ways, as opposed to vandalism. I really dont believe the article qualifies for deletion though. Caper13 01:26, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Not sure if you took offense to my comment. If so, I apologise. I didnt mean anything I said in a negative or aggressive way. I didnt want to just remove the banner you put on the page, but wanted to raise with you the notability guidelines for deletion. Its not this school in particular I am saying shouldnt be deleted, but that an article that appeals to a relatively limited audience, isnt grounds itself for deletion under notability guidelines. There are quite a few articles on Wikipedia that appeal to only a small audience (some physics articles in particular may only be understood by a couple of readers in the world). Notability requirements are there to prevent the creation of vanity pages, for example me creating a page about myself or one of my friends or my band. We can use the notability guidelines to delete these and stop vanity pieces from cluttering up Wikipedia. If my band however, can prove it has released an album or two and has some notability then it is eligible. Articles about larger groups like a school or union representing a large number of people do not have to prove that notable students went there, or that they are famous for some reason. Their position in the community, and the fact they are not trumpeting a couple of individuals, means it is ok for the article to be there and that it satisfies notability due to its position in the community. If we applied notability to legitimate towns or cities the way we apply it to individuals or small groups, it would be impossible to write articles about smaller towns. Thats why we don't do that. Any of that make sense? I wasnt trying to challenge you, but rather just engage you in conversation on the topic. Caper13 03:02, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't take offense to anything you said, but have you read the notability guidelines yourself? I am not complaining that the page appeals to only a small audience, I believe it should be deleted because it is not notable. The definition of notability, according to Wikipedia:Notability, is "A topic is notable if it has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works, whose sources are independent of the subject itself." This does not appear to be the case with the school in question.
