Speedy deletion nomination of Prestige (Progress album)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Prestige (Progress album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. About Wikipedia

edit

I'm sorry but Wikipedia is not My Space. It isn't a place to post "autobiographically sourced" material. For your submission to be accepted it would have to meet one or more of the criteria at WP:NALBUM, most importantly, reliable sources independent of you would have to have taken notice of that mix tape and searching on google, I don't see that they have. I wish you luck with your music. Valenciano (talk) 08:36, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your edits to the talk page. The issue is not that the material is believed to be a copy violation or untrue, it's that the material is not notable enough for inclusion. Please read the links in my message to you above. User generated content like datpiff, youtube and twitter is definitely not sufficient to establish notability. Valenciano (talk) 09:51, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Look man I'm gonna level with you here, the page is mostly just for completion purposes and progressing my credibility as an artist. Can't you please just lift the deletion suggestion and let me have this one? It'll most likely be the only article I ever post, and it took me a long time to figure out how to make everything correct. Please man, don't get it deleted.

No can do. Like I say, Wikipedia isn't My Space. It's for covering established artists, not for giving people street cred. Valenciano (talk) 11:57, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Okay Mr. Wikipedia Police. Because letting my article survive will affect you so drastically and bring the world to an end.

Progress2K15 (talk) 18:19, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Progress2K15Reply

It would ultimately bring Wikipedia to an end. If we let your self-promotion stay, then we have to let the 100,000+ other people in bands or making music to also have articles about themselves and so we'd go from being "the free encyclopedia" to "the free encyclopedia with a lot of shit articles about non-notable wannabe musicians." Sorry to put it bluntly, but there it is. We'd also have to let lots of other people write articles about themselves. Write poetry? Cool, write a Wikipedia article about yourself. Have 25 subscribers to your YouTube channel? Make an article about yourself. Play for a youth sports team? Write an article about yourself. No, not what we're aiming for here at all. If you want to promote yourself, My Space, YouTube, Facebook, blogs are there for you to do that. Not Wikipedia. I don't think there's anything more to say. Valenciano (talk) 21:25, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wow. I never thought of it that way. Thank you for your brave contribution to society. I can sleep better knowing that you're keeping those people off the streets. 76.228.249.76 (talk) 22:41, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Progress2K15Reply

You're welcome. Come back to us when there is something to distinguish you from the tens of thousands of other rappers pushing cliched and repetitive 909 beats. Good luck. Valenciano (talk) 22:45, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 10:02, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Prestige (Progress album), a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. I already have done that and made my case perfectly clear. If you would mind your own business and tend to the millions of other perfectly good deletable articles instead of stalking mine trying to get your way like a child, then we wouldn't have a problem here. I'm kindly asking you to leave me alone. Thank YOU. Progress2K15 (talk) 23:01, 9 August 2015 (UTC)Progress2K15Reply
