Copyright issues edit

Hello again and thank you for clarifying the copyright status of the text of Derek Kale (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) by updating your website. However, there is a problem in that the licensing information given here is not compatible with the GFDL as is permits free use only by Wikipedia with all other users requiring permission. Free content on Wikipedia is required to be free for anyone to use, re-use and create derivative works from (even for commercial purposes) without needing permission. The only permissible restrictions are that the content should be attributed to the author and that re-uses should have a similarly free license. An example of a commonly used compatible license for Wikipedia is CC-BY-SA.

If you do not wish to waive so many rights to your work, a simpler solution may be to simply rewrite the material in question rather than copy/pasting the biography from your website. I ought also to make you aware that other editors will examine the article to see if it meets the inclusion criteria, specifically the guideline for sportspeople. To verify permission to use this text on Wikipedia, you will need either to explicitly release it on your website under GFDL and CC-BY-SA (CC-BY-SA is not currently compatible with GFDL for text, but Wikipedia is contemplating a transition to that license in August, at which point most material licensed on external sites under GFDL will need to be re-licensed or removed; see Wikipedia:Transition to CC-BY-SA for details) or send an e-mail from the contact address listed on that site to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL v 1.2 or later and CC-BY-SA 3.0. There is a boilerplate release form at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries which can be helpful. Please provide a clear link to the website in your e-mail and specify by name the article on Wikipedia in which the material is being used. Once your e-mail is received and processed by a member of the Communications Committee, the article's contents will be restored if your release is legally sufficient. Please make a note when you've done either of these on Talk:Derek Kale to help guard against premature deletion of the page. If you decide to send an e-mail rather than releasing the material at your website, you can simply paste (brackets and all) {{OTRS pending}}. Please let me know if you need clarification on this process. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:29, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

If you are going to delete drivers in the series because they aren't significant enough then you might want to delete the series page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USARacing. ProcupPosse 21:20, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
