February 2008 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Georgia (country), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. LADodgersAngelsfan (talk) 10:34, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Georgia (country). Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. LADodgersAngelsfan (talk) 10:41, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Feb 2008 edit

I have redirected your new page to georgia, as it is basically duplicating data found on the georgia (country). Weltanschaunng 16:24, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Georgia POV edit

Please do not insert your Georgian point of view into articles, such as Europe. Discuss your changes first on the talk page. Thank you. Húsönd 01:24, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, please do not use edit summaries such as "spelling correction" for edits that have nothing to do with spelling. Húsönd 01:40, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 02:17, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re. European Borders edit

Polscience, you definitely need more time on Wikipedia in order to gain experience and realize how do we function. You caused a lot of damage that I spent some time fixing yesterday. First, you need to read WP:POV and realize that controversial edits need to be discussed on the talk pages first. Then, you must also realize that there is no "BIG problem" regarding Georgian borders or whether it is considered Asian or European. The subject is well described throughout Wikipedia, just like every other subject. And just like every other subject, that has been discussed and reviewed, even by experts. In fact, it is no big deal that the border of Europe is not very well defined in the Caucasus, it is typically considered to be the crest of the Caucasus Mountains or, alternatively, the Kura River. What there's no doubt is that Georgia is located in two different continents, and your edits tried to erase that. That's a fact and your attempts to make Georgia look more European would never be successful. Thank you. Húsönd 13:06, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

Polscience, I have blocked you for a 24 hours period after your new comment at Talk:Europe. When the block expires, please respect WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA as you have been told to. Otherwise you won't be able to discuss your disagreements in a constructive way, or even be taken seriously. Thank you. Húsönd 02:42, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Husond, it is also not nice to bite newbies to Wikipedia and harshly use ban system on new user. Well thats my opinion. Iberieli (talk) 23:51, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Iberieli, have you seen Polscience's behavior on the Europe talk page? Well, I have, I even tried to amend the style of the ongoing conversation in the beginning. My impression is that Husond's reaction is absolutely justified, even more since Polscience has apparently not learned from it and immediately started new insults on other people after his ban had expired. Tomeasy (talk) 21:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes he saw my behavior on the europe talk page and I believe he was not very impressed but again I was blocked because of that and after the block I did not do anything wrong. I would never imagine that racism would be tolerated and expressing my protest not.
As far as I can interpret the time stamps, correct me if I am wrong, your harsh reply towards User:mathsci happened after your ban. Just to refresh your mind on what I mean I cite you here: << TO MATHSCI: please go and get busy with mathematics. your expertise is completely irrelevant and worthless in this and many other sections of the similar nature. thank you for understanding --Polscience (talk) 20:44, 2 March 2008 (UTC) >> Tomeasy (talk) 11:03, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

Hi Pols, Welcome to Wiki. I dont recommend on insisting about Georgian geographical position, I understand that i might be frustrating. We indeed need good editors like yourself to help us on Georgia related articles. We have very few Wikipedians from Georgia which creates problems for Georgia related topics where in some cases anti-Georgian POV is implemented. Thanks and Welcome again. Iberieli (talk) 23:49, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppetry edit

Polscience, I have blocked you 31 hours for the confirmed usage of sockuppets. Sockpuppetry is prohibited on Wikipedia and this could have resulted in you being permanently blocked. When the block expires, please do not attempt to create new sockpuppets with the intent of swaying discussions or polls in your favor. Thank you. Húsönd 22:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shame on you. For days many people were honestly discussing and putting a lot of effort to reach consensus, also incorporating your rather extreme positions. And you have no better idea than to invent 4 false friends. You were complaining so much about Husond in the past week. Well, be happy with his ruling. If it was up to me, I'd rather do the wikipedia project without people like you. Tomeasy (talk) 21:48, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
And here's another 48 hours for subsequently creating and using two other sock accounts, proven by checkuser. Next sock abuse will likely end in an indefinite block - Alison 05:50, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Problems with Image:Parliament .jpg edit

I've deleted this image, as it was clearly a copyvio of http://www.flickr.com/photos/cinto2/179055914/in/set-1240749/, initially with no references to the original what so ever. Bjelleklang - talk 13:38, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

NowCommons: File:Rustaveli Avenue.jpg edit

File:Rustaveli Avenue.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Rustaveli theatre.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Rustaveli theatre.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 17:54, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Tariel.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Tariel.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture edit

Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Svaneti,_georgia.jpg). I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:

http://www.freeenglishsite.com/

I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm

2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm

3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm

Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.

Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely,  Duane Hurst in Utah, USA
