Proposed deletion of Mike White (writer; filmmaker) edit

The article Mike White (writer; filmmaker) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. –Dream out loud (talk) 22:21, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Copyright problem: Subway Cinema edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Subway Cinema, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images from either web sites or printed works. This article appears to contain work copied from https://www.subwaycinema.com/timeline-of-past-events/, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

See Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries for a template of the permissions letter the copyright holder is expected to send.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Subway Cinema saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Adam9007 (talk) 22:23, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

July 2019 edit

  Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at Paul Kazee. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Proposed deletion of Paul Kazee edit

The article Paul Kazee has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Pkazee. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Subway Cinema, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Jmertel23 (talk) 22:56, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

It Came From Schenectady moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, It Came From Schenectady, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Paul Kazee edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Paul Kazee, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Managing a conflict of interest edit

You also need to understand that reprinting text from your own website will be treated as a copyright violation until either the website indicates that the relevant content is public domain or email confirmation of permission is received by Wikipedia. This is partly for your own commercial protection. All text posted on Wikipedia is covered by Creative Commons licence which means that you when you edit are allowing anyone else the right to reuse your content for any purpose. Posting content off your website means that you lose the protection against copyright violation as you yourself have said in effect its ok for anyone to use the words. Request reason:

A bit of background. I am one of the founders and directors of a film programming organization called Subway Cinema. Among other things, Subway Cinema was the parent of the New York Asian Film Festival. Earlier this year, Subway Cinema and the New York Asian Film Festival legally separated ways. As such, the Subway Cinema wiki page should no longer redirect to the New York Asian Film Festival page. As a long time wiki editor, I was asked by the other directors of Subway Cinema to remove the redirection and - using info from our SubwayCinema.com page - to create a standalone Subway Cinema wiki page. I did that, but was told by wiki that it was a copyright infringement. I explained that it was not, as - along with the other founders of Subway Cinema (Grady Hendrix and Goran Topalovic) - I hold the copyright to the subwaycinema.com info. I then resubmitted the revised page info. Now I am being told that I'm guilty of self-promotion. Indeed, there is some conflict-of-interest in having a principal of an organization outline it's history, and indeed, I complicated this by attempting to recreate a page about myself that I deleted several years ago. The bottom line, however, is that the current Subway Cinema wiki page incorrectly forwards to a former SUB-ENTITY that Subway Cinema created. It should no longer do so. Please delete the redirection and consider my request to be unblocked. Thank you.

Decline reason:

The copyright concerns are easy to resolve. Please modify SubwayCinema.com to indicate the content there is freely licensed under one of the free licenses. We would be happy to help you pick a free license if you are unsure which would be suitable. At the moment, that site indicates "© SUBWAY CINEMA 2019" meaning you can't repost the content here. The other concern is that you've been violating WP:COI and WP:PROMO. You have indeed; in order to be unblocked, you need to convince us you understand this and would refrain from any further direct edits. You'd be free to disclose your conflict of interest (those policy pages show you how) and then suggest edits on the article's talk page, but that's as close as you should get to direct edits. Yamla (talk) 18:10, 13 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
