Van der Graaf Generator writing credits edit

On the page Van der Graaf Generator you added this sentence:

"In interviews, Hammill stated that even though he wrote the majority of VdGG music, its arrangements were always collective, while in the case of his solo recordings, he wrote and arranged all the compositions."

That is very interesting information. But it is likely to be removed if there is no reliable source for it. Would you please specify in what interviews he said that? Names of the magazines, dates, pages, etc. Thank you. Mark in wiki (talk) 08:15, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Since 1991, we have a monthly rock magazine "Tylko Rock" ("Only Rock") - after short hiatus between late 2002 and early 2003, from 2003 known as "Teraz Rock" ("Rock Now"). Its distinctive feature are the so-called "inlays": several pages dedicated to a single performer, including biography, discography + brief reviews of each album, interviews, videography, solo discography of band members etc. One such inlay was dedicated to VdGG and Peter Hammill, and it included a large interview with Peter. The journalist (Wiesław Weiss, one of Poland's best and most experienced rock journalists, who authors the "Great Rock Encyclopaedia") asked exactly about the difference between his solo records and VdGG records (mostly wrote by Hammill), and Peter stated that all the arrangements on VdGG records were done collectively while on his solo records he arranged the songs. (There were some more interesting details: Hammill stated they chose the name VdGG because when he saw the Van de Graaf static electricity generator, it reminded him of a "large phallic-like sparkling tower". I'll do my best to trace the particular issue of "Tylko Rock" and give the most accurate details on this. talk 20:02, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
